Um

Hi all,For me Kirby related I'm after a Ezee and aer rotor.
Non Kirby related it's a Spinney 600/800 and a little mainly red (but some black) Goblin cylinder from the 80s. It was my 1st ever vac....

Can't see myself getting any of those in the near future but you never know...
Santa might be watching;o)

There is one vacuum I would definetly trade anything for and thats a General Electric Canister Vacuum, from the 1940's. I am not sure of the model number but my mother had one before our Rotomatic. It was a grey bullet type, with General Electric down both sides of the vacuum, no wheels, no sled, it was curled up feet on both ends. I loved that vacuum and would giveanything to have another.

There aren't many machines I lust for. It's just not my thing, but.....

There are a couple I would LOVE to own that I have only seen fleeting glympses of and NEVER one in person:

Air-Way Dirtmaster

Kenmore Imperial "bug eye" upright

~Tim J.

Here Goes....

First and foremost, an MIB Compact C-6 with the PN. Don't want much, do I? Oh, and a Polish-Aire AND a Magic Disc.

An Electrolux Model T, the "Thrift" model.

An Electrolux Model AF with the PN-1.

A mid-to-late-'60s Sears Best Kenmore in the blue color (this is the one with the "fishmouth" opening to put the tools in), with the Powermate.

A really minty Royal hand vac and an extra NOS bag.

And a turquoise radiator brush attachment for an Electrolux crevice tool, and a late Electrolux white-bristled dusting brush and a late Electrolux white-bristled wall brush. Oh, and a turquoise Electrolux tool caddy from Canada (Aeoliandave, are you listening?). Or two.

Anyone that is looking for a Constellation, *Pictured* I would  be willing to trade the one I have for something!

vacuums you lust after

I would really like to find a GE u7 Deluxe upright from the 60's with the chrome tool set, complete and running. I am kind of odd that I really don't collect, but I have had a lot of vacs through the years that I just wanted to try to see how they worked, and then sold them or donated them. The GE would be a keeper

Ben, your  recollection of those 'curled up feet' got my attention. Did they look something like this?

Picture is from the files of Doug Smith but I have this same all chrome GE model (somewhat inaccessible at the moment) and in fact there are four individual curly-cue shapes spot-welded to curved flat-strap braces riveted to the body.

The General Electric logo runs down the red strap handle; the body is gleaming heavy gauge plated steel with no embossing or other embellishment. Obviously a stylish TOL model I have no doubt there was a painted entry level model in brown or gray (?)

Sandy, as far as I know Turquoise was not a Canadian color in Electrolux vacuums or accessories nor caddys. There was a red inked folded double compartment cardboard one for the red 80 series and then the plastic bucket type was introduced for the 87 and 89 in a a pale lime green. This bucket type was continued for many years in pinkish-tan, rich brown and off white to match the respective plastic body Can-luxs.

Resident guru Doug can confirm and expand on this for us.

lust after......well.....

you can never have too many 60's/70's eureka uprights or 70's kenmore "woodys" lol, but what I really want is a couple of pairs of SQUARE end caps and the retainer screws for a 12 inch vibra groomer II. I've looked everywhere, and I just can't find them. If anybody can come up with some, I'll gladly buy them.

Oh Dave that G.E. is beautiful!  That is so close to what we once had. Except the hose had the what I called the plunger piece that fit against the front of the vacuum and helped to create a seal against the connection.

And it had the "General Electric" name running down the sides!  Same tools, Same legs, everything!

Its just beautiful!

The one pictured !

Is older, it has a screw type hose connection, similar to an Apex, you turn the knurled area and the rubber ring swells up and holds it into the cleaner, the next generation had a rubber cuff with a pushbutton type thing, this was used thru the first swiveltops.

GE Out with the old, and in with the new

"I have no doubt there was a painted entry level model in brown or gray" Apparently there was, although I think its a bit unusual for them to use it to this effect in their own commercials

Al

The vintage machines I would like---NSS Bronco,Kirby C,Lewyt Big wheel. And more of the older compacts-the Polishaire attachment, and the Electrolux air powered polisher attachments.the Compacts that come in the hassock type storage case.

Dave:

I was almost certain I'd seen a photo of one in turquoise, but if one was never made, then the off-white would be loverly.

Someday. Someday.

There is a grey GE AVT-811 on ebay. it is not what you are looking for, but it could get you closer to finding the model number of your ge

Is anyone interesting in talking on a metal Hoover Convertible, like the models I have posted earlier in this thread?

@vacbear58:
I just love that commercial! It is hilarious, in my opinion!

@ massagemiracle
the body mold seems to be identical with the one posted earlier and it has the same hose. It just has a full lenght top instead of the handle and the feet are different. I am not familiar with GE vacuums but it seems to be within the same line and probably within a year or two.

The Last GE Tank!

Fred S has one, it is square with the newer style push button lock attachments.
