VERY Rare Hoover Book

VacuumLand – Vintage & Modern Vacuum Enthusiasts

Help Support VacuumLand:

A few people have informed me that the seller is an unsavory character. It's been paid for, and I'm sure he won't jeopardize his rating of over 2500 / 100% positive feedback on eBay to pull any funny business at this point. I'm glad to relieve him of his ownership duties and give it a safe home in my fire-proof safe.

As Tom commented

In the old days of the VCCC it was great, we shared what we had, no one worried about getting rich off 1 item, back then we would have copied that book and given it to the members, Charles Lester sent me free of charge a ton of old literature, because he is a FRIEND , same with Tom G , he has given me tons of stuff, just because I was a friend..

I was given a BEAUTIFUL copy of that very book, many years ago. It was around the time I was President of the VCCC (for six years). Fred S. also provided me with a ton of early Hoover literature, which I made copies of and gave to friends. The Vacuum Cleaner Museum is also the recipient of lots of this type of literature, from former salesmen as well as vacuum shops and dealers. I was recently given a Hoover Home Economics book, from 1929, breaking down every piece of the model 725, including the motor, explaining how it all worked together, and even had lessons for the Home Economics class that would have been studying that book. Copies of that book will be available free at the Vacuum Cleaner Collectors Convention in June at the Vacuum Cleaner Museum (always the second weekend, thurs thru sat, in June every year). We have THREE filing cabinets full of this kind of literature, and brochures, and manuals - plus we have an awesome copy machine (color). While you are at the convention, don't forget the literature. You're free to make all the copies you want.

A little update...

<p>Apparently our friend 56ultramatic reads VacuumLand, as I logged into my eBay account to find this gem of a feedback comment (after an otherwise pleasant transaction and leaving him positive feedback). If you look back at my remark here, I only said others told me he was an unsavory character.

Unpleasantries aside, thanks for the great book! I'm sure all of my vacuum cleaner collector friends are enjoying reading it.

That's unfortunate, indeed.

I used to always make time to visit him when I was in North Canton. I'm sure he doesn't miss me. It's unfortunate, really. I thought he was a nice guy, a fellow vacuum guy, etc, but he seemed to want no part of me, a visit, etc.
To post something like that on a feedback space was not the best move.
All I know is that he doesn't like to or plan to ever sell anything to a vacuum collector. That's a shame.
Should a seller on EBAY ever care to whom he/she sells something, as long as it's a positive sale?
Lucky that you got that book. The whole episode is unfortunate.
John
