In December 2009, Vax launched the Hoover LiNX cordless upright in the UK as the 'LiFE Unplugged'. Billed as a 'luxury product', it sold for £199.99.

This December, Vax have sweetened the deal. As an online exclusive for their website, they've created the 'Vax LiFE Multipack', which includes the LiFE cordless upright - and, making it's UK debut, the (now Vax-branded) Hoover LiNX handheld. And the price? Still £199.99!

It's no secret I've been very impressed with the cordless upright - but here are some pics of the new handheld addition.

Lithium ion battery slots into the rear of the cleaner, and provides 12 mins run-time. It takes 3 hours to recharge. One battery and one charger is shared by the two machines.

LED charge-level indicator... depletes in 3 segments, and the last segment flashes to warn you when there's less than 25% charge remaining.

...and finally, the battery in the charging dock. The blue light stays on while the battery recharges, then pulses intermittently when it's done.

I have the Hoover pair. I have to say that I am more partial to the stick vac than the handheld. I do like the crevice tool and brush, though unless you use a very light touch, the brush gets disengaged very easily. All in all, these show a lot of progress in the cordless vac arena.

Hi Chris - I'd agree with you there; I definitely prefer the upright to the handheld. And I've experienced exactly the same issue with the dusting brush not staying in place - glancing through the Amazon.com reviews of the Hoover version, it seems it's a common source of irritation!

However, with the Vax Multipack, it's free as part of the set, so while it might not be the best handheld out there, it's hard to complain about it!
