Hello people!

I need some help. Mainly to do with vacuum finding. You see I am desperately after a Hoover Junior from the 1970s and some other older vacuum cleaners, including a Dyson DC01. I thought of going to a car-boot but not sure. Plus don't want to pay too much money for a vacuum from a place like that.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated :)

Cheers!

Thanks George! Carboot it is then for me, not sure though if my local car boot will have a Hoover Junior somewhere, either a 1970s bottom fill one OR a 1980s Junior. Although I can settle for a Hoover Junior High Power compact. Basically a Junior but with a hard bag housing. (Although i'm sure we all know that ;) )

I'm sure someone will have a DC01 at a carboot, i'm also after a DC02 Standard or De Stijl one as well.

Ah right. My carboot is every sunday so i'll be going to this week to search for a Junior, and a DC01 OR DC02 (De Stijl) I never really been to a carboot before, so i'm not sure what i'm going to find. Hopefully that 70s or 80s Junior!

Lovely DC02 btw! :D

car boots are the way forward, just watch out for idiot sellers.

I had this today, beige and chocolate U1104 in ok nick, needed a good spa session, new belt and brushes but would have been a nice little machine. I offered £3, expecting her to say a fiver. £25!!! She was adamant it was an antique, and took offence to me asking her what she considers an antique. She said 40-50 years innit.

I casually walked back over to it, flipped it flat and dated it June 1986. She said 'yea, but it'll be worth somefin one day'. 'To whom?' 'A Collector'.

I then, getting irate now, picked up my big aquajet box
(having bought it earlier) and said 'I am a collector. What state is the motor in?' 'Dunno, but since u know what it's worth as you collect them it's still £25.

I walked off laughing, stupid chavvy cow! Poor thing will probably end up in landfill (no top handle cap, good bulldog sticker though) but sadly that's life!

However, most people just think 'old hoover' and flog it cheap. I got 2 DC04s the other weekend, one for £3 one for £8. Was a DC14 today, seller wanted £60 for it. She was nice though so I left it at that, knowing she probably wouldnt go below £30, and they can be had cheaper than that. Would make no money if i bought it at £30! Learn how to play the carboot game, and don't get excited! Lets people think its worth more than it is!

eureka

Oh, poor Sam, Once there was a nice Eureka the boss £5, I asked the wasteman how much is was, he was nice and said £5, I asked if it works and he was like YES! And told me to get lost, I would have smashed his vacuums! Including the vax, /DC05 yellow and purple absolute etc, HATE him! And also there was a DC03 with a broken cleaner head £15, standard, also I hate when there was a man selling a DC08 animal, looks well used, £75! He even had a DC20 animal for the same price, damn people, carboots are not as peaceful as they were anymore.

I will have to be careful and take notice of the seller and prices. I'm not paying more than £20 put it that way. Not sure how much a DC04 is that works but needs some restoration done to it will be? Hopefully under £20, I just don't want to get ripped off. Same with a Dyson DC01 De Stijl, don't want someone to rip me off on one of those either if I find I'm paying to much and it's left clogged with a damaged cyclone.

Hi Tim, dont worry, you can ask the seller if you can check the vac before buying, I got a blue dc07 all floors for £3! And a dc04 absolute for £5, all work, a dc03 for 6, dc25 for 40 dyson dc08 for 8, i bought ut, it was an origin one and dc07 animal just lost suction but was perfect with all tools £15, try haggling too, itis bery good and point out the faults of the vacuum to get it cheaper.

Thanks guys! My local carboot in the town I live in (Melton Mowbray) is on sunday, I've never really been to it though. Although on the day I think i'll be looking for a few machines that I REALLY want. Such as a Dyson DC01 and DC02 De Stijl and a DC03. As well as a an 80s Hoover Junior. Others can wait for a bit, I will come round to them however.

Again, thanks for the help people! :D
