Yes...40 pounds worth! That is an early "O" as it is black. They had so many inquiries that they could not keep up with the demand. The marketing idea was thought up by Herbert W. Hoover himself (Boss Hoover's son) who would later (in 1922) become president of the company until 1948. Once people used "this little machine" they would not want to be without it. His mother Susan Hoover had bought one of the Spangler cleaners and loved it. Thinking of his mom's experience, he thought the customer would like to try it in his/her own home and he knew they would not want to give it back! He was ahead of his time. It is a great ad!
