Hey guys! I had a Hoover 51 for a while, and added some upgrades to it at some point. I documented the process of doing this in a YouTube video, if anyone's interested:

Basically, I wanted it to filter better, not scratch my floor, and have a hose that didn't leak. If there's any interest in the models, I'd be happy to upload them somewhere, too.

Good to see you posting again. You're a very creative and determined person. I had I think a model 50 way back when and That bag upgrade is definitely something I would have enjoyed. I never felt like the Pedal shaker thing worked very well to keep the bag clean.

Are you on thingiverse? I had some parts printed for my 725 from a "vintage hoover vacuum parts pack" If you're the creator of that thank you so much! I needed some wheels and I'll be installing the paper bag converter when I get the machine more completed.

Thank you! That is indeed my post on Thingiverse; I try to make these models available for free so everyone else can use them, especially since I'm no longer selling them on eBay. I'm glad you found that and got use out of it!

I totally agree about the pedal shaker thing. I always thought it was a bad design choice to shake the bag out IN the vacuum cleaner. That's just asking for your motor to get caked in dust.
