Polisher

It appears that you are correct - it and a sprayer attachment are featured in the 100 manual, but only the sprayer in the 310 manual, that would indicate that at least they stopped promoting it in 1970.

I was surprised to see that in 1979 the sprayer is still being featured in the 345 manual.

It was not just the polisher that was dropped from the 310 onwards, the classic "pose" for using a Lux (hose handle in right hand, hose round the back and lightly held in left hand) was also dropped as well. I still hold the hose in this way - Electrolux or not

Is this the polisher you're refering to? This one is the USA Electrolux vacuum powered polisher that also shampoo carpets (dry foam rotary) I don't know if this version was available in the UK?

He was probably thinking of this one. It's the same as the American model of the same period but even more beautiful with a silver hammertone finish and a beautiful, ornate logo on the top.

To think of all the work, desing and CARE that went into all

of these beautiful machines. Then ,some people scratch, slam, and bang them into and under things.
Let's face it: some people 'bang'. They're "bangers".

And, then we see machines that look like the day they came out of their boxes. CAn you imagine anyone making new machines look that 'pretty' anymore? They sure did have style back then. I was told thart HOOVER had a 'colorist". That explains all of those wonderful, (sometimes crazy) colors. Now, it's gray, sometimes red.
