What would you be prepared to pay for a Turbopower 3 Autosense with permabag TOL model new in box if the seller uncovered one in the back of the warehouse Alex?

My money's on the SEBO C3.1 at the moment, and I doubt I'll win it, but I can only try.

So its you that's bid the £250 on it then? I thought it might have been Roger, or Narayan.

Its gonna go far higher than £250 - its a  rare and hard to find SEBO - how often do you see these brand new any more?

Hey Alex, I've nearly caught up with your post count - you don't seem to be nattering as much on VL these days - I suppose you are too busy polishing your Turbopowers!

Sebo C3

No Steve,
I'm not bidding on the C3 because I have the C3 Power Plus which is almost identical apart from the colour and additional power head. I also have a mint in the box Sebo C1 which was Sebo's first cylinder cleaner, so I'm not interested in the one on offer, especially at that price.

I doubt I will place a bid on any of the current cleaners for several reasons:

1. I have several of them in brand new condition including a boxed and barely used Turbopower 1.
2. I used to own a few of the models and sold them so I won't be buying them again.
3. If I didn't want them when they were easily available, I don't want them now.
4. I won't pay over the odds for a vacuum cleaner as I like to find bargains. For example, I have just ordered a brand new Ensign stealth (based on the Sebo X1 for £60.
5. I am waiting for the Panasonic Icon that I purchased from this seller but unfortunately it has
been stuck in Milton Keynes for over a week and I am starting to loose my patience. Hopefully
I will be getting it tomorrow if the seller has sent another one out, but I'm not holding my breath.
6. If I have spent many times more than the cleaner cost originally I would be afraid to use it, so what would be the point of having one?

Whoever gets the Turbopower 2 I suggest you get a spare belt for it as the original belt will have probably stretched. I had to get a new belt for the Maytag upright I purchased from discontinuedbutdiscounted and the solution tube for the Vax 2100 needs replacing as it has gone brown with age.

Good luck to everyone who is bidding and I hope you will share your pictures and possibly videos of your new vintage cleaners.

Roger

That's not good Roger - what do you mean the Panasonic Icon is stuck in Milton Keynes? I hope they don't mess us about with delivery on these items.

That Ensign Stealth I saw last night - I thought £60 was a mistake, it was Vaclensa selling it if I remember rightly. I was gonna buy it, but left it as it seemed too good to be true for £60 and free postage.

Panasonic Icon

Yes, if it ever turns up, I will be uploading an unboxing and full review.

I have just got fibre broadband, so I am able to upload HD videos now without having to wait all
day, so you will see the Panasonic and all future videos in glorious high definition. I will have to
get botox soon or stop appearing in front of the camera.

Don't worry Roger, just feature more of Daisy - she's very photogenic. Always cute to see her!

Is it the courier that's holding up the delivery of the Panasonic Icon, or are CeeJay messing you about?

Steve,

The Ensign Stealth was described as new other, so I am expecting a brand new unused cleaner that may not be in the original box. It does seem too good to be true, but if it's not as described I will be opening a claim with Paypal.

To be fair this is the first time I have had a problem with an order from discontinuedbutdiscounted. It was collected by Parcelforce but the tracking shows it is still in their Milton Keynes depot. I am disappointed by the slow action of the seller to resolve my non delivery, but I suppose they are more concerned with listing all these vintage vacs.

I have asked the seller of the Ensign to deliver a week on Thursday and I will be uploading a video of it when it arrives. Fingers crossed it is as described.

It could be that the package has come apart maybe, so they cant deliver it? So its Parcel Force that's to blame then, and they are usually not too bad.

I'd be interested to see this Ensign Stealth - I bet its a refurb model for £60. Gotta be a listing error, if not, then its a real bargain.

If it's a listing error then I expect the seller to contact me and offer a refund before it's dispatched.

I think that possibly the address label has fallen off the Icon. I've had parcels delivered by other couriers that have been resealed by them when the box came apart. I hope that CeeJay makes sure that these vintage cleaners are well protected as the boxes on most of them are pretty worn and may not hold together with the rough treatment they will get in transit.

Yes, that concerns me as well - that's why we pay with Paypal, as if the item arrives damaged, we can open a claim. It is in Cee-Jay's interest to package these items properly, especially seeing as some of them are raising a lot of money.

I'm sure it will work out OK, and they will be fine when they are delivered.

There was a blue C3.1 on ebay a feew weeks back, from some seller called Claude, and that one appeared to have a motorised head, but not the usual ETH head - it was smaller, never seen one before, so I thought it was a fake head, and didn't buy it.

Its disappointing this one hasn't got a power head, but you cant have everything - I'm sure it would work with a SEBO turbo brush.

I actually bid on that C3 which was being sold by Claude. I was outbid first time round, then it was re-listed and again i was outbid then it was re-listed AGAIN. I gave up in the end....i could smell a rat!

No that brush wasn't a fake. SEBO had 3 styles of Electric Brush available for the C Series. ET-L (Small 30w power brush) ET-C (150w 36cm L-shape) and the ET-H.

The ET-C was more commonly associated with the C1.

I couldn't find a picture of that small electric head anywhere, and with the external wiring up the tube, I did think it has a fake. That must have been a very early model. I suspect Claude wanted more money for it than you were prepared to pay, so he shill bid on it himself, to ensure it didn't sell for less than he wanted. Ebay is rife with this kind of behaviour.

Why didn't he just put it on with a BIN price set at what he wanted, or set a reserve price, instead of messing people about?

I have a brochure for the SEBO airbelt C3 Power. I will upload a picture of it later as it shows the external power cable. I was still at school when i got that brochure so must have been from 1998/99.

I made a best offer on that Sebo C3 which was accepted. I emailed the seller to inform him that I would be paying the next day when I got paid. On the morning I was going to pay, I had an email from the seller saying that unfortunately when getting the cleaner out if the loft he dropped it and damaged it so it no longer looked like the picture. He said the tool cover had come off and the cleaner was scratched.

Call me cynical, but I smelt a rat, thinking that since my offer was accepted he was offered more for the Sebo and decided to sell it to someone else.

I really only wanted the power head anyway, so I asked the seller for a photo of the damage as I would still be interested in the cleaner at a lower price. I didn't get a response so I contacted the seller again and asked to buy the power head on its own as it was only the main unit that had been damaged.
The seller then told me that the whole thing had been taken to the tip and if I didn't believe him he would offer me accommodation at his house so I could see the cleaner at the dump!

I was naturally very sceptical about the seller's explanation who was very offended that I could even suggested that he accepted a higher offer. If I had been the seller, I certainly wouldn't have dumped the cleaner without making sure that the buyer was happy with the reason for cancelling the sale. I would have also taken detailed photos of the damage to prove that I wasn't trying to pull a fast one. I also find it hard to believe that he dumped the whole cleaner including all the tools and power head that didn't suffer any damage. He has sold many cleaners and power heads in the past and some offered for spares or repair, so why would he get rid of some valuable parts when he could have made money on them?

I haven't left feedback yet though I still have time, but I can't prove that the seller accepted another offer and he can't prove that the cleaner had been damaged. He suggested that I would leave him nasty negative feedback but he would do the same for me if I did. Obviously the facility for sellers to leave buyers negative feedback has been withdrawn, so he won't be able to leave negative feedback for me anyway.

What does everyone think. Would any of you have accepted the seller's explanation? Was I completely out of order to suggest that he had accepted a higher offer after mine? We know that sellers end auctions early if they are offered a buy it now price and I am sure that some sellers have accepted a higher bid even after the auction has ended. Perhaps this seller is totally honest and just a bit naive to get rid of the evidence before settling things with me, but it all seems very fishy to me.
