Triple action cleaning

I bought a new house in Aug. of last year. The carpet is not of the best quality as it was a model home, but it seems to be looking worn already. I have no kids or pets anymore, just me, and I work all the time. So not too much foot traffic.

I have a Kenmore upright tol, and a Kenmore canister, almost new. I have been toying with getting rid of the upright as I don't really like it anymore.

I was going to order a Hoover Commercial Elite to replace it. But, now I am wondering would I be better off getting a good rebuilt Convertible with a steel beater bar? I remember my mom's 1020 just pounded the dirt and grit out of our heavy sculptured carpet. You could see the grit jumping out of the rug way ahead of the nozzle! I lived on a farm, so there was a lot of dirt and dust flying around all the time.

Any advice gang?

You can't go wrong with a

The Commercial Elite will out clean the Convertible, it might not out last it, but it will do a better job of deep cleaning the rug. I use a Hoover Commercial Soft Guard, model C1702-900 on my rugs and it does a great job on deep down cleaning, leaves very deep brush marks in my rugs, they look great. I was in the vacuum business for over 35 years and I have to say this is probably the best deep down cleaning vacuum I have ever used.

Hey,
You won't believe this! I dropped off some stuff at Goodwill today, and just for the heck of it went inside. There it was a Hoover U4003 Custom Convertible for 9.99 in great shape! Good bag with a fresh C inside good belt brush, even the light works. I just brought it home and did my bedroom carpet, and it looks great. Oh, and the sound of that motor, reminds me of our 1020 when I was a kid. Who would have thought I would find it today?

It has some scuffs. What is it that you use to get them out? That is the only flaw. It has a service ticket from the Hoover Company dated 1993.Whoever had it took care of it.

I always found a magic eraser works fantastic at removing scuffs and will make rubber bumpers look like new again

backwards belt

So, I got my new old hoover on Sunday, and I have been cleaning up a storm. I thought it pushed funny. Tipped it over, and sure as heck the belt was on wrong. Reversed it and now it pushes way easier. I am loving this machine! It is so quiet.
