VacuumLand – Vintage & Modern Vacuum Enthusiasts

Help Support VacuumLand:

Sorry to chime in late, just read this.

You obviously have an address since you sent him the vacuum. I would try contacting the local authorities in his state. Make sure you save all past correspondence, they may want it.

I'm not sure, but I would think this would be a case of "theft by deception", and they might be able to help you out or tell you what papers you might need to file.

My friend and VCCC member, Bill Kirby, just had this happen to him. He bought an Avalir from a member of the Vacuum Collectors Club on facebook (Rob Walton's group). Sent the money by walmart to walmart transfer. The money was picked up, and of course, no vacuum ever. The seller tried to say he was in an accident and his mother would ship, etc. All kinds of excuses. To make matters worse, the seller is still on the facebook group, scamming other members.

The police don't want to get involved unless the fraud is over a certain amount. Bill's only recourse is to sue. Luckily, as a former Chrysler employee, Bill is entitled to free legal service with corporate lawyers.

A bail bondsman (and fellow vac collector) helped Bill obtain the seller's current information (current address, previous address, previous convictions for fraud, etc.). Will be interesting to see how it all plays out.

I always say, NEVER send money other than through paypal, to anyone you don't know, for any vacuum or part. Be especially careful of members of facebook groups that you don't personally know.

Honestly, Call the police. Ive never had this experience, but when I first started buying vacuums, i was stupid. iI sent cash for everything. I was luck, and got my things, but it might not have gone so well. I use cashiers checks from the bank now. Much safer.

Hello all, I just wanted to follow through on my thread. I finally received my trade with Chris, he contacted me and explained everything. He had some problems that were beyond his control and was very apologetic for everything. I'm not going to put his business out there but it was not his fault. Anyway I said earlier I would clear his name once it was settled. He sent me everything as promised and again was very apologetic. He has been a member for along time and felt bad about the whole situation. So that's the story. Have a great holiday and happy New Year.

I really hope you can iron out your situation with MieleTouchtronic soon, and that we both hope he comes to his senses. Be prepared to send his contact info and all your past correspondence with him to your local police if worse comes to worst.

Merry Christmas!

~Ben
