TOP FILL to BOTTOM FILL- Bag Conversion

Hello All..
Has anyone attempted or successfully converted a TYPE A top fill Hoover Convertible to the old school TYPE C bottom fill? If so how was it done and would I need to order parts online someplace? IM awaiting my delivery of a almost MINT condition Hoover Convertible Model U4409, and Im sure the TYPE A set up is more practical and economical, but its just a personal preference that I would like to have the bottom fill TYPE C bag on my only Convertible im going to own. Any suggestions on how this can be achieved? Thanks

It's easy to do.

You'll need to buy an entire 'botton fill' setup. Then, simply remove the entire "A" setup, and reinstall the new one. You'll find the outer jacket will not be as full. Are you planning to get a different outer jacket? Do you know how to remove all of the top fill apparatus? Let us know how it goes.

Well i know that the outer bag is bigger than the type C bottom fill outter bags.. so are you saying when the vac is on the outer bag won't look as full as it should be?
So i'd have to completely replace the bellow that attaches to the machine and buy one that has the tube fitting for the C bag is that correct?

Another thing to consider is the newer motor may have more airflow. It may bust the bag! I've had this happen on some of the later plastic based type "C" convertibles. I would be doing the same thing you are. I love the type C setup for it's originality.

Well, a C bag is smaller,

so, it won't inflate as much.It will have 'room in there'. It's very hard to separate the bellows. I think it all comes as one unit when you purchase it. If the C bellows unit is old, you might just want to replace the whole thing. That way, it'll be new and supple. Very easy. Let us know.

kloveland..didn't think about that. This particular model was described as a 5.0 amp motor. So im assuming it has more power than the older converitbles? I wanna say this model was in the mid 80s like 86-87? Hmm well im going to wait and see once i get the unit.. because at the same time i'd hate to mess with anything if its not necessary especially with these machines being rare to find and in this good of condition as the Ebay seller described it. Its also coming with a brand new UNUSED tool set. So im excited BTW does anyone here collect any of the newer Hoovers? I have a Hoover TEMPO that im thinking of selling? Its a great Vac just decided to go with my convertible that im waiting on Let me know Thanks for ya'lls input
