The tools

It has a nice long full stair cleaning hose and a crevice tool, extention wand and dual purpose dusting tool.

From a glance at the brushroll it looks quite underwhelming

And finally the Hoover Turbopower 1000


This one had very dry bearings but I lubed them up and it is sounding much smoother now, it is a bit beat up but in realively good condition. It is missing all of it's tools, the only one it has is the dusting brush. This is the bagged Turbopower 1000 but there was a higher end version which is basically the same apart from it having permabag system 2, the permabag system 2 was available as an optional extra for all turbopower 2/3 and "basic" 1000. The Hoover Turbopower 1000 unfortunately replaced the Turbomaster as Hoovers flagship model. I don't think the 1000 is as good as my 800 watt Turbopower 2 but there you go, with that said, I don't think the Turbopower 2/3/1000 were as good as the original Turbopower anyway.

You should smell that freshener disk it smell absolutely gorgeous! very strong sweet smell as you vacuum, smells like the 80's (how would I know that!)

As you see model U2812 and made in May 1993 (a very early one) they were only out a year anyway, they were discontinued in 1994 and the Turbopower 3 took over as the flagship model, the top of the line Turbopower 3 was exactly the same as the top end Turbopower 1000 apart from the Turbopower 3 had a longer stair hose, other than that the specs were the same.

Yh, we had many variations of these "eureka" style machines from 1997 untill the mid 2000's branded Electrolux. We did also get those AWFUL bagless versions of these, I had one and always wanted the bagged version and here we are.

an almost unused Numatic George, with complete wet kit. Only missing it's dry floor tool as Alex had to donate that to another cleaner, but I picked up a genuine replacement for £6. I needed the space, but also needed a good 3 in 1 machine, so we were both very happy with the trade.

I really do like those little combination dusting/upholstery tools. The only time I've seen that type here in the United States is on Eureka Victory style machines (like your Electrolux Powerline). I do dread most other combination tools on other machines, like Bissell's combination tools which make a terribly loud sound when used.

we have used that style combination tools on Elecroluxes since the early 90's with the introduction of the Contour, as you can see my contour has the same tool as the Powerline except it is grey and has much softer hosrs hair bristles.

Chris, Nice picture of the George there, I am sure he will get lots of mucky fluid sucked threw him when you take him to your dads on Saturday.

Wish we North Americans had that deluxe version of the combination upholstery nozzle+dusting brush. Those horse-hair bristles look so much better than the harsh black synthetic bristles.

Never liked that combo tool very much .... the side without the bristles was not very useful in my opinion, and the dusting brush part blocks your view of the material you are cleaning. :-(

Yh, there is such a difference...

The horse - hair bristles of the Contours dusting brush, gently sweews the dust in leaving no dust behind on the surface, where as the powerlines black synthetic bristles seem to leave little streak marks on the surface as the bristles are stiffer.
You did get what was branded in the US as the "Eureka Contour" did that not have the same horse - hair bristles on it's dusting/upholstery tool?

This is the combination tool we got with all other Elctroluxes prior to the Contour, but notice it has the same horse - hair bristles, maybe later versions of the Contour from around the same time of the powerline (late 90's) used synthetic bristles, I am not sure.
