My wife purchased a Silver Knight canister vac back in 1972. It's been an excellent vacuum, and still uses the original motor brushes in the motor! Amazing... It works as well now, as it did when she purchased it from an independent vacuum dealer. Of course, the upholstery or dusting brush natural bristles are worn down substantially, but otherwise it still looks great, and performs as new. The one problem, however, is vacuum bags. We haven't been able to find bags for the Silver Knight in years. We continue to use the original felt bag which the paper bags fit down into - when they were commonly available. The only thing we have found are essentially filter paper discs, but not the bags.

Does anyone make bags for the Silver Knight anymore? I doubt it, but thought I would ask. Attached is a JPG of vac.

Thanks.

Don

Does this cleaner's

disposable bag have a collar, or is it more of a paper sack (Can you remember? how long has it been since you last bought bags? and were from?). if it's more like a paper sack with no filter, G-E SwivelTop bags should hopefully work, if the cleaner's bag had a cardboard collar with it, it'll be substantially easier to find a replacement.

They have a cardboard collar..

I have the same machine, except mine is one of the very first ones made in 1955, so it has a smaller motor than yours, I have not found any bags for mine either, but you can use a plain open top bag such as a GE swivel top bag, unfortunately, they are getting hard to find too..

Yes, the disposable bags had a thin cardboard collar...

The disposable paper bag had a thin cardboard collar stitched around it, very similar to the felt bag although the felt bag has a rubber collar. The disposable bag fit directly into the felt bag, and the thin cardboard collar sat on top of the rubber collar of the felt bag.

It's been a long time - perhaps 10+ years - we were able to buy the disposable bags, and they were purchased from a local independent vacuum dealer (who no longer has anything for the Silver Knight or Silver King).
