This weekends find!

This must be the weekend for vacuum finds down here in Florida. I found this neat Panasonic at a sale on Friday for $10.00 Of course it had to come home with me. Here it is after a little tlc, and the wonders of the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser!!! It is a 12 amp. machine and I am amazed at the suction, noisy as all .... but it does its job. I think this one just might get resold at the next garage sale.

Nice find.. does it sound like normal noise. I bought my SIL one of those a couple of years ago and don't recollect it being too noisy, me who doesn't like noisy and all LOL

That's a beautiful, almost Miele-ish, case design in all its Panasonic-ness and in pristine white, too. Can you post a shot of what's going on at the top where the handle joins the body...is that some sort of detachable tool? I can't see for all the black...

Here you go Dave, it only has one wand, which has the dusting brush attached and on the side next to it is the crevice tool.

Very cool, Terry. Is that a Powerwave? I wonder why it's so loud... Panasonics, even low end ones aren't known for being very loud. It looks pretty classy for a modern plastic vac in that white color. Was it a vacuum virgin before you got hold of it and christend it on your rugs? I like the ones like that thad had the strech hose, height adjust, bare floor control, and headlight.... but the switch is still halfway down the body of the machine ( If it where dark blue, you'd think it to be a Kenmore!

Yes Bobby it is a Power Wave. Maybe it isn't so loud but when you compare it to an Electrolux it seems that way!LOL

Nice find, Terry.
We have a Panasonic MC6220 3 speed upright.
Back in the day (through the '80s and early '90s), it was the number one upright in Consumers Report.
It has a 7 amp motor that generates great suction and is fairly quiet.
I put together a great set of attachements for it with a 10' hose making it the vacuum of choice by my family.
My daughter has it now and absolutely loves it.
She couldn't believe we were giving her that vac for her apartment at the time.
Still runs great since it has been well maintained over the years.
My understanding is it was the Japanese version of the Hoover DAM, basically improving on the shortcomings of the Hoover.
Too bad that 12 amps had to become the standard.
It changed the pleasantness of the machine and was not necessary/didn't really improve performance.
Funny how the configuration of that vac (clean air system) is now basically the standard for most uprights produced today.
Again, great find and enjoy while you have it!!
