Saturday morning there were quite a few garage and estate sales going on so I decided to hit all the ones in one neighborhood in particular. Didn't find anything at them, but driving on one street I saw a Kenmore canister sitting next to some trash cans at a house. I drove on by and after I went to the sale I looped back around, popped the trunk and grabbed it.

It was at a nice house and it was put so neatly at the curb that I think it might well work. Haven't had time to try it out. I did have a quick look inside yesterday and it looks fairly clean in the bag compartment. It even has all the attachments inside and the Powermate Junior. As well as hose, wands and Power Mate. Looks to have a few scuffs but nothing major. The attachments had some light fluff in the bristles but otherwise looked brand new.

I'll try to look it over soon and see how it runs. Maybe while I'm off for Thanksgiving and Friday this week. It's a blue color, and I believe bottom of the line, no dirt sensor or variable speed or anything. But honestly I was surprised to see it as I never see Kenmores, canisters or really anything other than bagless Bissells or Hoover uprights in the trash.

Thrift store shark rocket

I stopped by my local thrift store for a quick look and saw a pretty decent Shark rocket stick vac there. They wanted $39. I did buy it because it worked when I tried it and the suction was low but the filter was …as I figured…packed. The power nozzle had virtually no wear on it and the brush roll had no threads. Maybe someone cleaned that off thinking that was the problem. Then when that didn’t improve the suction they just got a new vac and donated this one. I washed the filters and it works beautifully. While it didn’t come with any other attachments I quickly realized I have a spare adapter to use any of my collection of universal 1 1/4” attachments with it. It’s the hv302 model which is the first version of the upright stick model which is still sold today in target. It is the orange metallic color.

I already have a deluxe model so this find will likely get given away at some point to my niece who seems to go through vacuums rather quickly and since her parents have the same model she has mentioned that she likes that style. I just gave her a very nice Kenmore canister after she said her son did something to the dyson upright I gave her a year or so ago and it did t seem to be working g right anymore. She was thrilled with the Kenmore and said she would be keeping that in her room so her son couldn’t ruin it. She lives paycheck to paycheck and doesn’t have spare cash to spend on vacuums so I just give her my freebies from the yeah I fix up or any decent thrift store models.
