For the longest time, I've wanted a Sebo/Windsor to call my own, and about 2 years ago, I bought myself a used Windsor Sensor S12 off of Ebay in an attempt to fulfill that desire. However, my ownership of it has been pretty turbulent to say the least.

I'm not gonna go into extreme detail with my problems with it, so I'll just link my other threads on this thing if you're interested.

The run down of the problems is that:

-The cord is a generic replacement.

-the bag door and other surrounding parts are yellowed pretty badly.

-The bag dock may or may not be defective, as sometimes dust will build up around it.

-Air leaks out from the rear of the base.

-some of the foam inside of the base was degraded.

-The motor has a lot of rust around it.

-It has the smell of rust whenever I use it

-The motor is either going bad, or needs new brushes/bearings.

-The inside of the machine is pretty gross


Just to name a few problems...

Personally, I believe that this thing was abused and neglected at some time of it's life. For starters, the rust around the motor seems to tell me that it was used to pick up water at some point, an obvious no-no. That or it was exposed to water at some point, causing the oxidation. On top of this, when I first got it, there was no bag inside it, rather just the collar for one. There was also some debris at the bottom of the bad chamber, too. Again, running a bagged machine without a bag is a seriously bad idea. I understood thar being a commercial machine, it was bound to have a lot of battle scars, but I wasn't anticipating ones to this degree.20250920_220109.jpg20250920_220119.jpg

I tried my best to clean and repair it as best as it could with my limited skills, but I don't think it was enough. Along with this, parts for these things are not cheap (a front hood cover for these will run you about $150-200 for example). They may be easy to service (Though even that I'm wary on now), getting parts at a reasonable price is not.

So yeah, I'm thinking it'd be easier just to sell/salvage parts from my current S12, then buy another one that'd be hopefully be in better condition. If I were to sell it, itd probably be for parts or repair, and if or when I do, I'll post an Ebay pink for it on the Supermarket forum. I'd love to hear some advice.
 
If you think Sebo parts are expensive wait till you see what other brands charge. One of the joys of Sebos are the great customer service and how inexpensive wear and repair parts are. Example, Miele charges $95 for the crummy plastic brush roll in their SEB236 power nozzle. Sebo charges $36 for the brush roll in your vacuum and the Sebo part doesn't warp and melt when it gets hot like the Miele brush roll does. And at least Sebo has parts for their products, even really old models long out of production. Most vacuum makers do not support their products with repair parts like Sebo does. I have a modern Electrolux Ultrasilencer for which no parts are available at any price. I can't even buy a replacement brush roll for it. Beautiful vacuum sits for lack of parts, and not the first time in my life either. The Samsung sits for lack of brush rolls and now Tristar parts are disappearing. But Sebo still supports even their old models.
 
Personally, there has never been a Sebo that I liked. I think they're kind of ugly, and I don't think the upright cleans very well. They are very well protected from abuse by cleaning ladies and cleaning personnel. The rust on the field coil is very common when a vacuum cleaner has been exposed to large temperature variations, such as being stored in an unheated garage. I have had a chance to use sebo canister models, both the large and the small ones, and didn't care for any of them. The only people I ever sold a sebo to were commercial users. I regretted every single one I sold.

I'm not saying that I don't like Sebo's parts support and stuff, I'm just saying that I think it's a bit ridiculous for the front hood covet for an s12 to be $100+. I'm very glad that Sebo still lets you buy parts for their legacy machines.
