For sure! When they went from Filter Queen to Filterqueen, that's when it went downhill IMO

For sure. I have seen them all and the new plastic tanks don't impress me.

Late 80s-early 90s. The good ones have the steel inner cone. Some 95X Majestic have it but some 80s machines have the plastic (some Canadian 700's and D31X are plastic inner cone) K31X is steel.

D31X are a great machine! Only Majestic I would want is a 95X

For their 50th anniversary, the golden jubilee model filter queen added a feature called the "heat shield" which kept the customer from touching the metal top dome. It was always quite warm after the machine had been used. This is my favorite filter queen, although the model 200 from 1939 would be my second favorite.

How did the heat shield work? Asbestos, metal barrier, something else?

Just the round plastic part with FQ name held down by handle. Is about 1/4 inch tall keeping hands from touching top. Also looks great helping the FQ pictured above with smaller pn to also be my favorite.

That is called an L31X and the D31X in had the plastic heat shield.

That doesn't make sense. The tan filter queen and the dark brown/chrome model debuted the heat shield in 1978 at the same time. Maybe I am misinterpreting what you wrote.

They made both the brown and chrome and the tan models in 1978.

Thank you. Filter queen is one of my favorite machines. I sold them for a number of years, I even won a high sales award when they switched over to princess models. I always enjoyed collecting all of the paperwork, literature, and brochures on those machines.

Just purchased a 1989 95X steel cone with an AN96 power nozzle (88 style 96) complete with boxes. I will share it when it arrives. I collect and run Filter Queens ONLY!
