For their 50th anniversary, the golden jubilee model filter queen added a feature called the "heat shield" which kept the customer from touching the metal top dome. It was always quite warm after the machine had been used. This is my favorite filter queen, although the model 200 from 1939 would be my second favorite.View attachment 172277
That is called an L31X and the D31X in had the plastic heat shield.

That is a beautiful machine!
 
Thank you. Filter queen is one of my favorite machines. I sold them for a number of years, I even won a high sales award when they switched over to princess models. I always enjoyed collecting all of the paperwork, literature, and brochures on those machines.
Just purchased a 1989 95X steel cone with an AN96 power nozzle (88 style 96) complete with boxes. I will share it when it arrives. I collect and run Filter Queens ONLY!
