This is one of my favorite vacuums. It was also one of the first of my collection. This is also the vacuum that I wrote to GE several years ago and they did send me the owners book on it. I wish now I had a few more GE uprights since they are my favorite. I do have several in my collection, but hopfully someday I will continue to keep that part growing.

I have also seen an old B&W movie that had this machine in it. I don't remember the name of the movie. The housewife ( a famous actress) was using it to clean her living room while she was contemplating about her husband doing wierd things to her mentally. The really cool thing I thought was that the sound of it running was the actual machine not an overdub of something else.

Does anyone out there have an extra set of attachments to this machine? That is one thing that I would like to have for it.

Yes, the G.E. uprights are one of my favorites also. I also wish I had more of them in my collection. Some of the uprights they manufactured in the '20's, '30's and '40's were absolutely beautiful. One of my favorites is the G.E. AVF-807. Mine got a brand new NOS G.E. cloth bag. It's a shame it did so poorly in that 1951 Consumer Reports article.

Does anyone remember an attraction at Disney World called "G.E. Horizons?" In a house of the future, there was a robot pushing a G.E. AVF-807. After G.E. dropped their sponsorship, they took the G.E. logoed bag off the machine and covered the G.E. nameplate. The ride has since been demolished, but fortunately I was able to get a snapshot the last time it was in service. Wonder what ever happened to that cleaner? Also, there is a G.E. cleaner in the "Carousel of Progress," (also formerly sponsored by G.E.) in the 1920's exhibit.

Yes I do remember that very well...My ex-wife and I were on our honeymoon. It was a pretty cool ride...Wasn't the colors red and black on the vacuum?

IIRC, the vacuum had black trim and originally a blue bag with a big "GE" logo. When G.E. dropped their sponsorship, they changed it to a purple bag, and covered the front with a silver block-off plate.

I sure hope someone has a color picture of that GE to post. I knew I remembered seeing a GE upright with either dark blue or black nozzle and a blue (was it Navy Blue?) bag with a large GE logo. I'm glad to hear from someone else who's seen this color scheme. Now if I remember right, did the cover plate (the one you removed, swung away, or whatever, to use the attachments) have a GE logo in red? I remember seeing only one of these vacs in person, but had also seen them in Spiegel's Catalog.
