It's been a lifelong dream to finally complete my pink Model 90 Kenmore vacuum. Chad Michael from Michigan turned me on to a man with the matching PINK Lady Kenmore power nozzle. Here she is in all her glory. The Vacuum Cleaner Museum is very proud to display this machine in the 1960's section of the Museum, along with its fellow Kenmore vacuums.

Im GLAD you got it Tom!

Doesent that look at least 10 to 15 years ahead of its time, I think that was one reason it was not popular, it was so futuristic people shied away from it...but it truly was the best power nozzle of its time....think about it, Kenmore had a L shaped nozzle in 61, and a direct connect hose in 60....Rainbow didnt have the direct connect hose for years and years, and Electrolux didnt have it until the 70s...the L shaped head until the 80s!and look at the design of the elbow, far ahead, even of most machines today, notice too, its covered in rubber so it wont bang up your furniture.

Now THAT is a Power-Nozzle! Where did I put my Sears card!?

pink Kenmore

Looks great.A very good nozzle that was only used for a short time at Sears and then on the last(brown)RCA Whirlpool of the mid 60s.
But isn't it lonely without the matching 2 brush shampoo/polisher with the concealed wax tank and remote pump?!?

The nozzle was ALSO used in 1969, by Rexair on the chrome dome Rainbow. It featured the pistol grip electric hose as well, decades before Rainbow would make an electric hose themselves.

The Lady Kenmore - all opened up. The bag set up was all wrong, using only one side of the machine. The attachment storage along with the spare wand storage on the bottom, made the "Lady" a heavy weight at 28 pounds (fully loaded).

The Pink Lady Kenmore Whispertone

Tom,
That is one fine example of a vintage cleaner.
It looks like it is "the Kirby" of canisters compared to the Electrolux G sitting beside it! The Electrolux looks so trim and slim. Even the Lux power nozzle looks trim and easy to use compared to the huge Kenmore foot print.
Can you imagine a small housewife trying to pull that Kenmore around corners and between the sofa and coffee table! Wow

Can you imagine pulling that through a thick shag carpet and lugging it up and down stairs on a Tri-Llevel house from the 60's.

Sure glad you found such a nice example. That is one serious sweeper.

Thanks Rob. It took many people and real effort to get this thing together. It definitely came 'separately'. Donnie (my BF) found the machine, the hose is from the Kenmore 90 Whispertone, and the power nozzle find belongs squarely on the shoulders of Chad Michael from Michigan - fellow Simplicity dealer and all around GREAT GUY.

Tom, that Kenmore looks really nice! I bet you are glad to be able to have it to show off in the Museum. Now, when you say the bag set-up was all wrong....could it have been entirely possible that Kenmore was trying to create the "cyclonic" effect in the bags, the same as Regina tried to do in the late 70's with their canisters? It just occurred to me as I was reading this thread tonight that this may have been their intentions when designing the vacuum.

Rob
