The PERFECT Electrolux Commercial upright

The new Perfect copy of the Electrolux Commercial upright has hit the market. I got serial number 67. I plan to sell a ton of these. The machine comes packed with the attachments in the box, but NOT onboard the machine (which would make it heavy). The belt is the silent serpentine belt so the cleaner is much quieter than the Aerus model. Best of all is the price point we can sell it for. There are many Dyson stick vacs that sell for more than this wonderful machine. The HEPA filter is very reasonable in price and simple to replace. I just love it. We will be showing it to everyone who attends The Vacuum Cleaner Collectors Convention next month. So all stay safe, we have limited it to 20 invitations. Every attendee gets a custom made mask (by Chicago Mike). All social distancing will be in place - but with 3500 square feet of Vac Shop/Vacuum Museum it shouldn't be a problem. Stay tuned for pics - it's an annual pilgrimage for many. With absolutely NO pretentiousness at all.

I really like the red color on these. Although I would prefer to have one with tools on-board (That's just me). Proteam also made a few before without any on-board tools but they don't sell those anymore, I liked how they had a power switch on the handle.

Onboard tools...

Good move on Perfect's part leaving the tools 'off-board'. That's the major reason my Discovery Plus has been sitting in my barn since 2016. It's heavy and awkward with all those tools loaded onto it. I haven't seen—much less handled—Perfect's tools onboard upright so maybe they had a better execution but what Electrolux did back in the '80s, which made the machine very awkward and unbalanced to use when fully packed. It was great for storage, very space efficient, but I always felt the need to unpack most of the tools, at least the hose and wands, to create some semblance of usability. It was only after I rescued my Discovery II by from the curb some time later that I realized hey, this isn't such a bad vacuum after all.

The Perfect can be had without the on-board tools (which is the one I showed) as well as the model With the On-Board tools. I always felt that one was very heavy so I was pleased as punch that they brought out a lighter one without the tools on-board. Because there's a seal all around the nozzle between the cover and the nozzle base, there's no loss of airflow. Such a great design. It feels like Kirby suction while easy to push.

I don't know if you remember the sanitaire rebranding of these that existed in the early 2000s briefly.
I've always liked the Electrolux Discovery series.

I spend a lot of money each month on having the Museum (which is open and free tours) to be able to share ALL brands of vacuums with people. They all have such a rich history, I couldn't imagine being a 'vacuum snob' and only liking 1 brand. Can you imagine? How boring that would be. I enjoy being able to show people the very oldest of cleaners, and taking them through history. The GE's, the Electrolux, the Rexairs, and of course, the Air-Way's (so many firsts). Not to mention Lewyt and Compact and Kirby and all the others.

Is that last post for real, or some kind of joke? I don't post here very often and have not been aware of the "politics", of this site for some time. I do know former Presidents of the VCCC are mostly thrown under the bus ie: myself, Tom Gasko, R.J. Vanik, Richard Klein, etc., for reasons unknown.

The Tom I know does not have a "cold, empty heart". The Tom Gasko I know has been generous to this site, the VCCC and mostly to his friends. I have been the recipient of his generosity. During a visit to the old museum two years ago, I cam home with a Kenmore "Bugeye" Imperial, an unusual Electrolux stick vac with a power head, a General Electric 1940s upright, an early 1960s Kenmore upright and a wonderful Apex upright. Longtime members Tania Voigt and Duane Taylor, who were with me, were also recipients of sought after vacuums.

Last year, when I visited the new museum, Tom sold me a SEBO Felix for a great price and it is one of my favorite vacuums. Tom also sent me last year several genuine Lux brush rolls with the chevron style bristling that he knows I prefer--gratis! He has also given me literature, attachments and vintage bags for my Air-Way twin motored uprights. Those are like hen's teeth!

And this man is cold hearted? In gratitude, I sent him a newer Kirby that was rebuilt by the factory for the museum and he was very appreciative.

We have all said and done things we regret but with personal growth you learn, (hopefully), to forgive and more on. Tom and I have had our disagreements in the past but that is where they are......in the past. Our appreciation for each other and our mutual affection for the vacuum collecting hobby elevated us above and forward of the petty past. It would be nice if more could do the same.

If Tom is accused of "hurting others", maybe it is because someone else started something and was looking for provocation. Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.

Tom has been very generous since I first met him. We would hold wonderful conversations for hours on end and he has always been rather warm and inviting. He has a vast amount of knowledge that he loves to share with the class, and a copious amount of paperwork to back it up. When I first went out to the museum I went looking for a hotel, his response was “why do that?! You can come stay with us!” That was a very generous offer, he was kind enough to treat me to lunch and dinner and also a couple of machines to take home with me. He even offered to send me home with a machine for a friend of mine, a machine that was quite rare. He wanted it to go to a good home and that person couldn’t be happier with it. Tom isn’t about competition, and hosting glamorous fru fru events, he’s about the friends and the hobby that we all share in common, he could care less about banquets, someone’s financial status, and what they have, he cares about the friends the good times that can be had and also the things that he can teach people. Education can be a good thing when it comes to the history of what we collect.
Before you go spilling about how cold hearted someone is Harley, the least you could do is get your facts straight. All you know is what one side tells you and that side can’t seem to let go of the past, the past that should BE LEFT IN 2007-2008!!!! Not brought into 2020. Remember there is ALWAYS 2 sides to a story.

and have missed all the messy aftermath, however, now that the dirty laundry is being aired in a public forum it only serves to make the ones sucking sour grapes look very vindictive and petty.

yes, Tom I do agree that it nice to sell such a quality cleaner. at least parts are easy to obtain and they are interchangeable with lux parts. The quality is also about as good as Aerus quality!

Harley is a huge old pussy

Fat and furry and mean to everyone. Maybe it's because his balls were cut off early on. He's 17 years old now, so I figured this was the time to put him to use.

I brought him to work today so he could roll all over my black walk-off mats. The new Perfect Upright, with it's serpentine belt and auger-type brush bristle pattern pulls every one of his little hairs right up into the HEPA bag.

I'm keeping the mats with the hair on them for demonstration purposes. I know I could use Kapok, but the hair of a real pussy is always best. It lets people know what to expect when they get it home.

On board tools on commercial vacuums-no point in those-the uprights are used for floor cleaning ONLY by commercial users.The tools are used by the backpack and other commercial canister vacuum users.

I was just at my local shop the other day, and found out they are carrying Perfect cleaners now! The time I saw it, the shop owner hadn't even turned the machine on yet. I am talking about the lightweight upright. Once the shop gets to be a real showroom, I'll be able to test it out. I'll ask if he's thinking about ordering one of these Lux style uprights anytime soon. It's great to see Tom walking through the vines of this forest of argument, and stick to what his original post was for. I've never met Tom, nor spoke to him, but one day I will, and it'll be lovely.

I love all the Perfect brand machines. The company is so easy to deal with.

The light weight model sells really well, it's not too expensive for folks to buy. It's a good machine.

I love the blue and chrome upright. Every thing anyone could want in a wonderful carpet cleaning machine.

Tom, that's a great looking vacuum. I can't wait to hear one in person someday and notice the sound tone difference of it versus a cogged belt one. The airflow sounds great. I hope they sell like hot cakes for you and other vac shops who get them.

I'll comment on Tom's generosity too...

I've met Tom a few times and he is a generous, kind soul filled with knowledge and has been a great friend. Ever since meeting him a few years ago at a convention, I've tried to make annual trips around my work and of course 2020 has been hard with Covid.

Last year when I saw him, I was surprised by the gift of a brand new old stock Hoover Quadraflex PowerMatic. He knows my heart is in power nozzle canisters, especially Hoovers. It was extremely kind and unexpected.

On prior occasions, I've received other freebies in form parts, machines and labor. He fixed a Simplicity Verve canister vac of mine and all I had to pay was one way shipping. He covered the return ship. I received a free Royal Lexon canister vac, bare floor tools for Riccar, vacuum bags, brush rolls. All sorts of oddities. He's also a wonderful cook. He has sent me home with jars of Marinara Sauce and other goodies knowing that I love Italian food very much!

Throughout our lives we encounter people of all sorts. Some we get along with quite well, some we don't get along with at all. I don't know what part of you read him wrong and I'm sorry you guys didn't get along but don't come in here, ruin the party and make things up with this orgy talk. Move on...
