The New Sirena

Just noticed another feature that I did not like and a LOT of machines use it today. This is the one piece heavy stainless steel wand.
ONE piece makes the wand heavy to handle when used in the shortened mode for dusting. I much prefer the 2 piece wand system. I have had 2 high end canisters with this set up and did not like the added weight when using the wand for dusting or furniture cleaning.
Many of these features or "lack of features" are just an individual choice but nice to be aware of before you buy a machine that you will be using for many years.
 
I haven't used the non-electric hose yet. I use the electric hose for everything. The dusting brush fits on the end of the electric hose and the bare floor brush fits the electric wand. Yes, you do have to unplug the cord from the hose handle to use the attachments on it, but that's not a deal breaker for me. The telescopic wand is about the same weight as the two Rainbow wands, so it's not really any added weight. I love the fact that the bare floor brush stores on the machine, so using it isn't like going back to the closet to get it (like on the old Rainbows).

Seriously? Sirena may be assembled in China, but the slave children are reserved for making your Nike and Apple knockoffs!
 
I re-visited

this thread because I'm REALLY thinking of buying one of these. I also notice that a vacuum shop here in Lexington called A-1 Vacuums (I think) if I remember correctly, is a dealer and they sell them, so I can just go there and buy one if I decide to. I'm not giving up my Rainbow Gold 2 speed because I love it....but this looks so cool and water vac's are my favorite type of vacuums (can't explain the clean feeling after using one so I won't rant on about that) and this is not horribly expensive in comparison to the rest of them. No, I don't need it but I still want it. :)

Brand new Hyla's, OceanBlue's, ProAqua's, Rainbow's are all MUCH more expensive yet this looks very close to all of them.....at 895 dollars.

I never really thought of myself as a vacuum collector (LOL).. but now I have 3 vaccums.. Shark Naviagor pro lift away, Rainbow, and Epic 6500.
 
I always have a Good laugh when I hear people worried about quality from China. Did you know Mercedes Benz has a manufacturing plant in Beijing ? Would you call a Mercedes Low quality ? No . Now why is it that its not a low quality product if Mercedes makes their cars their but if a vacuum company makes or assembles their vacuum in a Their own factory but it is in China its Poor quality ? I just got my hands on my first Hoover air, Made in China , very nice quality much better quality than my Hoover windtunnel's and my Hoover elite and those were made were??? Oh mmm in USA. MMMMMM I think you guys need to get over your made in China Phobia. a Good quality product can be made anywhere in the world

Most of the phobia comes from many who collect vacuums yet don't even know how to repair their vacuums I've heard of one person who can barely change a belt yet touts they are an expert . China makes many quality products , all a company has to do is pay China for quality .

You and I know a quality product because we take things apart to explore vacuums thats how I learned how to fix vacuums at 5 years old . I have never had to ask anyone how do I fix this . You have been in research and development and own a successful vacuum cleaner business so you my friend are the authority when it comes to quality vacuums .

I have come to the conclusion that China bashing will continue but this will not stop companies from using China to manufacture their products . It's just like when Japanese cars came to the U.S. everyone swore they were garbage now all you see are many Japanese cars on the road . Look out Chinese cars are on their way to the good ole USA ...

About Made in China...

Americans have a made in China phobia?? Is that why we have a 6 to 1 trade DEFICIT with China??? It's true that not everything from china is junk, but China produces it's fair share of junk too. Even Germany and the US make their share of junk. China's car companies might come to the US someday IF they can survive. China's car companies are in decline IN CHINA. Their market-share is shrinking rapidly. Foreign companies dominate China's car market. China's car companies cannot pass the stringent crash test standards of the Western countries. But I will say this. It's not a two-way street. These other countries use tricks and roadblocks to keep out Western products so they can protect their own while the West has allowed them much better access. Japan was found MANY times throughout the 1960's-1990's to be in violation of free trade agreements. They tried to destroy the American computer chip industry in the 1980's and were found THREE TIMES to be selling chips at a loss to steal market share. They were found guilty of doing the same with televisions and cars. The US has opened it's doors to products from around the world, they should do the same too. Allowing our economy to be destroyed is not a ridiculous thing to worry about. We can't do that and we won't do that. So yes, I agree China should be approached with caution because too many times they are copying and selling too cheap for us to compete.
 
It all comes down

To the American consumer a huge percentage want vacuums that cost $30.00 they can't see that if you buy high end quality vacuum they last a lifetime .

Most of This generation does not care about quality they just throw it out and buy a new one and you have these consumers expecting to pay $30.00 for a vacuum how can a company in the US make products to meet their price range ?

This is where China has stepped in to fill the consumers desire of inexpensive products .

Planned obsolescence is how companies survive so until consumers change their minds China made products are here to stay .

Chinese Cars are already here in South Africa. The first ones were pickup trucks but cars came too. The other day I testdrove one of there latest cars that would easily rival any of its competitors from Europe or Japan.
 
Question about the PN on Sirena -

A lot of folks did not like the PN that Rainbow's had on the E series E2. I remember reading several people on this forum say it wasn't a very good PN because it's designed choked off airflow, and that the prior Rainbow Square PN was better, and now the newest black PN is best.......So the least favorite PN seemed to be the Brown e series pictures here out of all the Rainbow PN's, which is the PN I have, but I've never disliked it myself.

Now, what about the PN on the Sirena? I only ask because it looks very similar to the brown E series PN. I wonder if it has better airflow at the head of the PN than the e series PN pictured?

The design of the Sirena powerhead looks good, like they avoided a design that compromised airflow like Rainbow did. But I highly doubt it would groom carpets well if the brushroll bristles are horsehair....I tried a Fuller Brush canister a couple of years ago that had horsehair brushroll bristles, & you could BARELY feel the brushroll touching the carpet.

Also, to me, the design of the Sirena looks cheap to me in some respects, like how the separator & spyder are designed. I also don't like how the tools are placed in the dolly, annoying design to me, they should have made a tool caddy that attaches to canister like Rainbow did for the E Series & D4.

Yea

thanks for letting me know about the PN. I didn't realize the brush roll was made of horse hair...I also am not sure I'm loving the look of the separator. I would like to touch it and examine it in person. The rainbow separator is so small and nice and so easy to clean. But this doesn't look that bad. I dunno........still pondering it.
 
Bought one.....

Went to the local vac shop A1 Vacuums in Lexington. They were out of stock and had to order one. Said it would be here Fri or Monday. There are 3 dealers local to me that sell this. One in my city and 2 in the suburbs. Both mom/pop local vac shops. I also notice Goodvac.com sells it and all the parts on their website...I'm certainly not getting rid of my Rainbow but this will be neat to own :)

Sooo

I get this today. Brand new unit. I unpacked it and everything was there except for the 32 oz bottle of deodorizer and the 4 pack of scents. This machine is NOT the quality of a Rainbow! The hoses are good quality, and the stainless wands are easy to use and not too heavy, but the stainless steel seems a little less quality than the Rainbow stainless wands. The dolly feels cheap to me. I LOVE the PN! That's my favorite part of this vacuum. It has great airflow at the head (better than my brown E series PN)

I'm really confused about a few things though!

A) there is no airflow control on the curved wand. Why?
B) The hepa exhaust cover has ZERO vents. No air can get out of the exhaust with the hepa exhaust cover on. Is this a sealed unit? I only ask because, when running on high power, and the hepa exhaust in place, there are two vents on the top side of the machine that I can feel a little air coming out of, but only if the hepa exhaust cover is on.
C) When I added scent to the basin, during cleaning, all I could smell was the new motor smell. I couldn't smell anything I put in the basin. I thought that was weird.
D) The bottom of this unit during cleaning has more area exposed to water, so cleanup isn't as easy as Rainbow.


It seems to glide on my carpet easily and weights just a wee bit less than the Rainbow...The separator was visibly dirty after me cleaning for 2 hours, but the water wasn't that dirty because I clean a lot. Basin was easy enough to clean. I can't get the separator off without using that tool.

Overall it's ok for those who don't want to pay for a rainbow, I hope that new motor smell goes away...
 
The new motor smell will go away. I use my Sirena (which was one of the first sold) two or three times to week to dust in the Vacuum Museum. I use the mulberry fragrance from Rainbow in it. The exhaust air escapes through the vents on the sides of the machine, like it did on the first E series Rainbows. I too love the power head. VERY quiet. It's much easier to clean the open top pan. The attachments are virtual copies of the Rainbow attachments. For 1/3 the price of a Rainbow, I can deal with slightly less quality. The separator is easy to clean, it's the same separator the Ocean Blue uses.
 
You're right. I have used it several times now and the new smell is pretty much gone. I could smell the D/A I put in. I guess since it's new at first it was a little awkward to me, the differences, but once I've gotten a little used to it i'm not disliking it as much as I did at first. It does do a REALLY good job just like the rainbow....I'm a little concerned about the dolly the way it attaches to it feels a little fragile to me (maybe it's durable), I don't know. The way you have to put it in front first, then back, then it clips. And that little rubber area that surrounds the separator is harder to clean than the rainbow, but all in all, this is a good vacuum as long as nothing breaks like the clips or dolly. I took the hepa filter off just to see what the other side looked like, look really clean so I guess the separator is doing its job. I say this because I vacuumed out my bagless canister bin using the Sirena and cleaned 3 other times doing different things and I could see no dust on the hepa at all. I like how you can see the water action in this better than my 2 speed gold rainbow.

That said, I still like Rainbow better.......but this would be perfect for someone who really wants a rainbow but can't afford it.

I wonder why it doesn't have the certifications that Rainbow has since it has the hepa and is water filtration? I know it says it's allergy friendly certified.
