The New SIRENA

Thanks so much for these pics

I just LOVE water vacuums......

This does look like a good alternative to Rainbow......and the attachments look high quality.....the separator looks a lot different to me though...

I'm looking at the water pan, it looks much different but trying to decide by looking it it if it's as easy to clean.

I think if I didn't have my current rainbow I would definitely buy one of these.

The water pan is VERY easy to clean, you can get a dish rag down the neck (like the New rainbow water pan introduced with the E series). The tall separator works like a charm, and with a washable HEPA filter, the Sirena fulfills all my expectations of what a water vacuum should be. As far as suction, on our electronic water lift gauge (used on the Assembly Lines at Tacony), it pulls 90 inches of lift on HI speed.

This machine has two sets of hoses like the older model rainbows? Electrified for the power nozzle, and non-electric for the accessories?

I was told 1500hrs in terms of motor, just wondering how it translates to low speed if they told you (I'll ask when I get everything situated and call next). Plenty for a vac but if you're using it on low as an air purifier it seems like too little as you're talking something that runs 24 7.

From what I gathered from talking to TK it's a great machine, what I see is the newest Rainbow power nozzle which is aweomse and the dual purpose hose. They were at all levels accomodating, and if they provide parts as such I'd be very willing to deal with them.

You're looking at less than half the price of a new Rainbow. I'll give them this, I talked to them personally and they were professional and helpful. I was skeptical, they called me back, I talked to them, they convinced me enough that I'd consider selling them. They were more than the level of accomodation I'd typicallty expect.

Is as it as good as a Rainbow? Once things get all settled I'll get one here I'll compare it with a single speed E Sesires as well as a fresh E2b (just unboxed on Saturday).

Will it be as good as a Rainbow? I dunno, I think it'll be a good alternative to them at a cost of a cheap refurb. I'll be proved right or wrong in the coming weeks. If TK is right and it is as good as he says, I'm not going to hesitate and tell you otherwise.I think at the very least it will be an awesome alternative to a refurb and have a full warranty.

I'm not easily convinced but just fromj their responsiveness to my request I'm considering sellting/distributing them. They seem genuine and helpful in terms of the product. Will they be the next Fantom and push a mass of units into the market in the shrot term? Who's to say! There could be a lot of would be Rainbow owners who couldn't afford them.

Will the AquaMate III PowerBrush work on the Sirena? Did Rexair manufacture the tools & electrified hose for Sirena?

I don't mind the two hoses. Not a big fan of picking up liquid with any electrified hose. But then again, I started selling Rainbow vacuums in 1979 so they've always had two hoses until just very, very recently. I wouldn't say the Sirena is the equal of the new Anniversary Edition Rainbow (the current model) - but it is certainly a great value for people who wouldn't otherwise be able to afford a brand new Water Filtration vacuum. I think the Sirena will evolve as vac shops begin selling them. You could never sell them in regular retail stores, someone really needs to show the customer how to care for the machine. Current older model Rainbow owners are the perfect customer for a new Sirena and that makes it a win-win situation for vac shops that carry the machine.

Two things I don't like about only having

one hose on the new Black Rainbow.......

When you're using the dusting brush, the actual HANDLE itself kind of would get in the way, as opposed to the regular wand only. plus I like having the 30 foot non electric hose so I can get high and low. It's cool to have only one hose for everything, but with my current Epic 6500 and my Kenmore canister that I had in the past, both have only one hose, and when it's time to dust, I couldn't do nearly as well dusting because of that big handle as I can with just the non electric wand hose on the Rainbow...

So if I ever do get the black Rainbow, I would keep this 30 foot non electric hose to use anyway. So for me, two hoses are better than just the one.

Ah, the two hoses are for wet and dry pick-up. Not what I had assumed, that you'd have to change hoses between using the power head and the detail tools.

I'll tell you, IMO, being able to buy the Sirena online is a huge bonus. Even Avon and the Pampered Chef have websites where they sell their products.

It seems Sirena just made it to the states, has this company been in business for anytime elsewhere?

The New Sirena

Vacyume,

Everyone likes different things and features BUT after using my Rainbow SE for 17 years BEFORE I got the new designed Black Rainbbow the following would be DEAL BREAKERS for me:
(1) having to mess with the 2 different hoses every time and messing with the storage was for me a big pain.
(2) also hated messing with the electrical connections EVERY time you want to change from carpet cleaning to dusting or bare floor cleaning
(3) note too the that power nozzle does NOT have a quick release wand. You are forced to either pick it up and release the wand or bend down to the floor each time.
(4)Tom can fill us in on this feature-but it looks like the Sirena does NOT have the LOCK ON/LOCK OFF feature for the power nozzle handle control.
This was something I found maddening with my old SE Rainbow.
(5) You can get the 30 ft electric hose if that is your choice with the new Rainbow

This is NOT to take away ANYTHING with the Sirena BUT as a new owner of a water based system, these were things I really did NOT like about my older Rainbow and you need to understand when buying a unit.

These were DEAL BREAKERS for me as I have a cocker spaniel and multiple floors and hard surface and carpets to clean and they were annoying features with my older Rainbow. I hated to be cleaning the carpet and then have to turn off the machine, go get the second hose and then disconnect the electric connections of the power nozzle and change over to the wands and floor brush.

It could be that you only need to use your machine once a week and have all carpeting, so the lack of these new design features would not be a problem.

Also you are NOT spending $100.00, we are talking about a $900.00 investment, so that would have to be a judgment call for what you feel comfortable with but no way would I spend that much money for a start up product.
I would feel a lot more comfortable with a product made in USA that has been in business for over 75 years.
Tom knows his vacuums so it seems it may prove to be a good product if they can get it going and have service available.

The New Sirena

Just noticed another feature that I did not like and a LOT of machines use it today. This is the one piece heavy stainless steel wand.
ONE piece makes the wand heavy to handle when used in the shortened mode for dusting. I much prefer the 2 piece wand system. I have had 2 high end canisters with this set up and did not like the added weight when using the wand for dusting or furniture cleaning.
Many of these features or "lack of features" are just an individual choice but nice to be aware of before you buy a machine that you will be using for many years.

I haven't used the non-electric hose yet. I use the electric hose for everything. The dusting brush fits on the end of the electric hose and the bare floor brush fits the electric wand. Yes, you do have to unplug the cord from the hose handle to use the attachments on it, but that's not a deal breaker for me. The telescopic wand is about the same weight as the two Rainbow wands, so it's not really any added weight. I love the fact that the bare floor brush stores on the machine, so using it isn't like going back to the closet to get it (like on the old Rainbows).

Slave Children

China--Strict supervision?

"Does this mean they make sure the little slave children get to pick two of the best carrots out of a pile a the end of the 18 hour work day?"

Seriously? Sirena may be assembled in China, but the slave children are reserved for making your Nike and Apple knockoffs!

I re-visited

this thread because I'm REALLY thinking of buying one of these. I also notice that a vacuum shop here in Lexington called A-1 Vacuums (I think) if I remember correctly, is a dealer and they sell them, so I can just go there and buy one if I decide to. I'm not giving up my Rainbow Gold 2 speed because I love it....but this looks so cool and water vac's are my favorite type of vacuums (can't explain the clean feeling after using one so I won't rant on about that) and this is not horribly expensive in comparison to the rest of them. No, I don't need it but I still want it. :)

Brand new Hyla's, OceanBlue's, ProAqua's, Rainbow's are all MUCH more expensive yet this looks very close to all of them.....at 895 dollars.

I never really thought of myself as a vacuum collector (LOL).. but now I have 3 vaccums.. Shark Naviagor pro lift away, Rainbow, and Epic 6500.
