THE NEW KIRBY IS HERE

I don't get it...

I think the new Kirby looks cool! It seemed that most people on here wanted to see a color change on the Sentria, (which was long overdue), and now that Kirby gave us one, a lot of people don't like it. It's not like Kirby was going to introduce a brand new, redesigned model two years before their 100th anniversary, so why complain?

I agree with Floyd

I just find it a bit rude, somewhat. I can see where you are coming from, seven years waiting patiently for a new model, wondering what they have done next.
People were begging for something new, something with a different colour, just people did when the Legend ll came out, and now Kirby's come out with the "sentria 2" with a few colour changes, like people wanted, and you throw it back in there face.
I quite like the new model and I am not gonna lie they could off added a bit more blue detail, but you know what, it is still something different and a modified name.
Like Floyd said they are hardly going to bring out something totally redesigned, two years prior to their anniversary.

Please don't take any offensive, I was just expressing how I feel.

I was never too fond of the original Sentria, but this model looks even worse. I noticed the new emtor immediately, and once again the older versions looked much better. The bag looks oddly vintage and extremely contemporary at the same time; it might have looked better in a different color. I do appreciate a model update, and the company letting us see it before the conference, so it's not entirely negative. Still excited for 2014!

When Dan shared his conversation...

with someone at Kirby, I had the distinct impression that the redesign was going to be introduced as the next model.  So this model has 11 to 15 months before it will be gone and the 100th anniversary model introduced.  I'm sure the launch will be no later than September to get the most mileage out of the 100th anniversary, and I don't think it will be earlier than June to be called 2014 model. Oh well, I won't be buying either model.

My Two Cents ( For All It's Worth)

When I first saw it yesterday I was a bit disappointed, but I have to admit its growing on me.

How does one really redesign a Kirby anyway?? Kirby's to me have always had the same basic design and function to begin with. If you change that then to me it would no longer be a Kirby...

Also, will these be sold until the 2014 model? Isn't that a bit short for a Kirby model to be in production. Seems like it would financially hurt them.

I just happened to be passing through Andrews, Texas today and stopped by the Kirby factory in hopes of getting a first hand look at the Sentria II.  Unfortunately, it was past their normal office hours, and I couldn't get in.  So this is all I can post!  LOL!

P. S.  I think they need to work on that sign!

So is the trim color grey or light brown? I will admit that I have a very slight color-blindness so to me the pictures look like more grey. I hope it's not grey. Otherwise, I like the Sentria and I want one. There really was nothing I didn't like about the Sentria, so I'm sure that I'd like the Sentria II. The bag pattern will just take some getting used to.

It's not what I expected, yet I am not surprised. If you don't like the bag design, you can always design your own bag.

Jeff, how would someone design their own bag? I know that people can think of their own design ideas and such, but how can the average person get that idea from their inside their head on to the bag?

I knew the Sentria II was on

its way and was trying to let everyone know but I couldn`t say anything because I promised my source . This was held up because of the economy and almost didn`t make it . Kirby wanted to give everyone something to hold over until the big 100th anniversary total redesign makes its debut . Like I have said the new Kirby (2014) will change Kirby for the better and I even think will make all other manufactures say why didnt we think of that ? Stay tuned folks less than two years and counting . I am so happy with the Brown and teal colors and that cool bag pattern rocks ! The new emptor improves and increases the Kirbys power and will also be used on the new model plus it is way easier for people to remove especially the older folks which Kirby has NOT forgotten wait you will all see very very soon !!!!!!!!!!!!

I was having a Mediocre day but those pics just made it a worse day. I like the colors but that pattern and the obvious same machine built just broke my heart. I had super high hopes for the new model.

For "on board" tools-actually makes the vacuum HEAVIER and more clunky-often the tools fall off while using the machine---so you have to go back and pick them up and put them back.I am at age 61 and have no problems using my Kirbys-even with the tools.Currently-I am using my Kirby with My NSS M1 "pig"No problems schlepping the both of them. Its fun using them together-you feel and hear the debris going thru the hose to the M1 and sometimes the delightful "ding" as something goes thru the M1 fan.I am going to try a Kirby Filtrete bag in the M1-they will fit in it.But yes, expected more than just a "makeover" of the present Sentria. For me-want a LARGER home-no plans of downsizing for me.My vacuums want a larger place to "play" in!But its a dream! The NSS does weigh more than the Kirby-it rolls very easily. And I am going to try the Kirby-NSS Monster vac with the hose on the Kirby-Guess truely a "tandem" air vacuum system!

custom bag

I have not made my own custom bag yet, but you would have to have a sewing machine, and rip apart an old bag to get a sense of the pattern. An easy alternative would be a vacuum bag 'slip cover'. Custom bags are easier on older vacuums.

Hmm...

Think I will stick with this- it cost me £50 ($80) complete with attachments including the shampooer and Zip Brush- just needed the bag washed and a polish.....

ok, it took so many years to make a 70's styled golden make-up???? Nice...I'm looking forward to have one! At least they removed the orange details that I didn't like much.

no no no Guys

You have it all wrong! The 70's bag and brown trim should increase cleaning power 10x! I thought this mother was going to have a g5 style headlight.. So much for that :/
