The Miele S7 has landed in Canada!

Blue model

They don't have one for the UK either, but I did notice one on test in the Miele durability tests on the UK Miele website. (It was a beautiful blue).

Tomorrow October 28th......

I as, are all of our stores, and all Miele outlets in the state are being treated to a full out preview and launch of the new Miele S7 series in Detroit at the MGM Grand Casino, tomorrow evening sponsored by Miele USA.

This preview includes a dinner, a formal launch and comraderie afterwards. The casino being there is nice too....:-p

As to the pre-launch machines sold across the country-

Several "key dealers" were allowed to purchase new machines ahead of launch, and sell them to the public to "test" out the responses in the market of the new item. Only our main store was chosen for this procedure for the Ann Arbor Ypsilanti markets, as were several other "dealers" in key markets around Detroit, Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo, Battle Creek, Lansing, Flint, Bay City, and other markets in the state of Michigan, and beyond across the USA.

Unfortunatly, the "problem" with this "pre-launch" was that Miele did not ship out any of the new filterbags now needed for these new units; and new owners, who are VERY pleased with their new machines were "miffed" that they cannot yet get MORE filterbags for the machines they were allowed to purchase.

I have heard that "a few" of those key dealers were quickly rushed out a "emergency supply", of bags, but were instructed to sell them only to those persons who have purchased a machine from "their" dealership. Not for anyone else.

Things should flow normally according to our Miele press releases by the second and third weeks in November. All dealers by this point should be sufficiently stocked with the models that they wish to carry. Out of six available models, we will as of the day after announcement day carry 4 of them.

Our selection will be the S7210, the AllerVac, the AutoCare and AutoCareHEPA. We are NOT sure of we are going to carry the Cat-And-Dog model as well as of this point.

The launch is greatly anticipated by all the vacuum stores around Michigan, and I believe that northern Ohio and parts of Indiana are included in our festivities as well. We have dealers flying in from the UP, and it is said that it will be a launch that we will all remember for a long time....

To those who have bought them, bags should be in stock no later than October 15 at your local dealer. So sayeth the flock of press releasers at Miele USA.

Self propelled S7

Unfortunatly the new S7 is not self propelled, but the machine does have a very poweful 150w brush roll motor which pulls the cleaner forward. Although many dealers have complained that it is harder to pull back as your fighting against the brush roll, this is a good thing as your getting a proper deep down clean.
If we had put a power drive unit on the cleaner the machine will weigh well over the 9.5 kg, and in a world where people want light weight it would not be a good thing.
Although the E brush lights work very well in dark hard to see places, they are also given a life expectency of upto 20 years.

My S7 has finally arrived-Its the "Tango" model.Really neat Red color and finish.Such a cool vacuum!Love it-will be my daily driver-have to use it CAREFULLY so as not to bang the pretty finish!
Lets see-where to begin-Mike called me from his Greenville vacuum and Sewing store-the new ones were in!!Last Wed-So I have had mine for only 2 days. The brushroll mount is really unique-the whole assembly floats on a spring mount on both sides of the brushroll in the floor nozzle. There is also a rubber strip behind the brushroll so the vacuum can be used on bare floors.any other Vacuumland member seen the springmount "floating" brushroll assemblies-so far I have seen it on Meile vacuums-the S7 upright series and one of the air driven canister powernozzles.I am wondering if any other vacuum builder-past or present has used floating brushrolls.
the machine is twin motor-one for the brushroll and the other for suction-same vortex motor used in the canisters.Mine has the pushbutton control panel-several speeds-and an "Automatic" setting like on the Aquarius canister.Use that mode.-if you block the airflow-the suction motor speed decreases. And the beater motor stops automatically if the handle is raised and locked upright-that way safe to use with the hose and handtools. Also the uprights come with a LONG crevice tool-not like the short one with the canisters. And when you put the crevice tool on the machine in "auto" mode the speed reduces.Guess to prevent overheating of the fan motor.
Really like the LED headlight-like my Kirby Sentria. The new "Hy-Clean" bags are nice--dual thickness "Filtrete" type bags-these are now available for the canisters-Mike got some in.He also took one of the S7 home for himself. And he has sold several out here. And when I bought mine-got a neat gift from both Mike and Joe the Meile man-A really nice Meile pen and pencil kit!Oh yes-the USA models are named after "dances".Have to get used to the swivel-steerable body-you can turn on a dime with this one-and better than the Dyson "ball".

Yay for new Mieles!

They've landed in my area, too!

I work at a vacuum store, very part time - one day or so per week, as my schedule allows. But, they're a Miele dealer!

VERY impressed overall, and priced better than the Riccar uprights from what I understand.

VERY easy to maneuver, very quiet, great tools, LONG cord.
The three on the left have the manual speed control, the three on the right have the electronic speed control with an "automatic" setting. The one on the far right is a "diamond dealer exclusive". My favorite is the Burgundy one that's second from last - the "Tango" ((They're all named after dances)).

It's been a long time since a NEW upright has impressed me this much. At some point, I hope to bring one home to play with for a night...

Here's the lineup!

Prices...

I think the prices are: for the White, Yellow & Red with the manual control - $799

The Black (matte finish) with the Electronic controls and the "Auto" setting - $849

The Burgundy and Silver (Metallic finish) - $899.

Don't quote me, though.

Very Purty...

Fred,

Thanks for sharing. I love that pastel yellow; it's got a retro feel like the Aquarius--my favorite current color. I still love my red S7 - though it has no name since it was produced prior to mass production.

Dave (Aeoliandave),

Did you get my email of 12/02? I need your mailing address so that I can send you some money for the bags.

Mike

Dave...

For some reason I didn't get your email. Hmmmm... makes me nervous that other stuff is not coming through either. Can you please resend. Sorry for the delay. (I just sent you a reminder email before I saw this reply. Sorry for the confusion.)

titled 'Miele S7 bags address'

Re-sent this morning under that header, Mike. None of them have been bounced back to me so they are being delivered to pacbell.

That's annoying for you and unsettling as you say. Maybe you should check the spam catcher on your server?

Who ARE you getting email from? I could send it to them and they could forward it...

Dave

What!?

That's terrible news! How did you hear about this? I wonder if they have another upright planned for release soon?

The U1 is one my favorite modern vacuums. If that's the case, that's VERY disappointing.
