Yes folks, right now at Canadian Tires stores across the Nation.

It's called the MISTRAL - what does that mean? I did like the slinky vinyl hose and the dusting brush has real bristles, not nylon.

How much is that in Canadian Dollars?

Add 14% sales tax & GST. I note that this one is designated model S780. The White body is quite striking but I want mine in Blue, please. And I want the box totally smudge-free, too. And really, for this price Miele could have made the cord retractable...dontcha think?

It is not yet even listed on the Miele.ca or Miele.com websites!

I'll have to go have a look at them. Bugs me that like many stores there is no where to actually try before you buy. So you have to cart it home and return it if you don't like it. Seems crazy to me.

Besides Dave.. it's an upright.. you should be calling the Bay in toronto and having them send you that Metropolitan for half the price. You'd really like it

Great Price...

That's a bargain IMHO, less than I paid for my new Miele upright. Did they have any of the other models in the S7 series?

Here's a shot of mine.

Well gosh, Pete, you can try out the Miele in the CanTire store - ours has one right out on the shelf. Shouldn't be too difficult to find an outlet to plug it in.

As for brand new vacuums - The Theatre closes in 3 weeks and 10 weeks vacationtime begins. Freedom. the only vacuums that are gonna command my $ will be old used & bargain priced. :-)

But the S780 is a great looking upright, dare I say looks better in white? But it would also show every smudge & fingerprint...

Mike, you wrote: "I noticed that Canadian Tires has the replacement bags for the Miele upright on sale for $9.99 (from $19.99). I contacted them about purchasing a few boxes, however, they do not ship outside of Canada. (I cannot find them here in the U.S."

Mike, I'm going to hunt down those on-sale 5 pack bags this morning before work. They'll only be on sale this week until Saturday, is their usual practice. Between Pete & I, I bet we can ship them to you reasonably by mailing them from Port Huron MI.

Pete, check your email...

Does any other USA member have an S7 and need a 5-pack of bags?

Dave

Success, Mike.

11 AM - have 4 boxes of S7 bags, all they had on the shelf, figuring that's a great price and the saleprice ends Friday October 24!!!. Each box has 4 bags and 1 set of filters.

Ran the S7 in the store. It is quiet for an upright and the swivel neck is fun to steer. Shapely form like Eva in Wall E. Same price as a Dyson at CanTire - $499.99.

Other Canadians should scoop these bags up while we can for future Can-Am gifting or when we find an S7 free on the curb in a few years - not likely...I have yet to find a Miele S4 or S5 canister curbside. :-(

Dave

The Miele S7280 (Mistral) is currently a model exclusive to Canadian Tire.

The canister that is also sold there is the S518 (Yellow Star). This model comes standard with the Active HEPA and the SEB217 powerhead. Coincidentally, the S518 is also sold at The Bay...

For the S518 and 514, Miele shipped the old forms to China once the S4 and S5 series began production in Germany. The actual components inside and out except for the plastic casing are made in Germany. However, the plastic has a cheaper feel to it compared to the old S500's that were totally produced in Germany.

Canadian Tire is only the latest Canadian big box store to carry Miele. Keep an eye out as another MAJOR retailer here is to be carrying models soon...

Miele S7 Dirt Bags

Dave,

Thank you so much for picking up those bags for me. Yeah! What a bargain. Email me with the details of how much I owe you, where to send it, etc... I'll also email you privately.

Thanks again,

Mike

The Meile S7 uprights are scheduled to "land" at Greenville Vacuum and Sewing on Oct 28.Mine is one of those on order-even confirmed it with Joe the Meile Man!He is the Meile dist out of Raleigh.I am anxious to get it.The machines pictured look so beautiful! In the first picture-what an insult to the Meile to show it with a Hoover Windtunnel and a Bissel! That Meile sure stands out amongst those machines! All I know about mine it is the TOL model.

There is a Newspaper Consumer review from Hamilton Ontario that pops up in Google that says it's self-propelled but I think she just thought it was because it dragged her across a carpet. LOL

I can find no mention of a self-propelled feature on the UK site.

A true flat bottomed upright, when you tilt the machine back the large rear wheels retract, lowering the brush head body so the stainless steel bottom plate glides a-top the carpet pile or floor surface on 2 tiny swivel casters in the front. Switch on the handle turns the brushroll on or off depending on the floor surface. In many ways the S7 is a complete re-think of traditional upright design and function.

It IS Miele's first totally in-house upright - the previous Miele models were designed and built by Eureka for Miele.

The bags fill from the top, not through a side opening, making it tempting to trim the top off for a maximum length sac. Really like the layered bag material and at the sale price think I will sacrifice a box and adapt a few as liners in traditional cloth bags in some favorite cylinder vacuums. Much cheaper than similar material Kenmore bags at Sears.

I'm falling in love with it all over again - may just have to buy one now...

I see the TOL model has an electronic selector panel rather than the dial. But why oh why don't they have a Blue model for North America? arghhhhhh
