Beautiful job! Id have to say the Golden J is my favorite Electrolux, but i prefer the L shaped PN.

THATS the machine i grew up with tho. Or at least from about age 11 on. My Grandma bought a new Golden J in the Spring of 1976 from the Electrolux Salesman out of LaCrosse WI.

I still have the post card he gave her with the Golden J on the front.

I used this machine MANY times over the years, and it got alot of heavy use.

Grandma had a large house with a grand staircase with a landing,,all carpeted.

One time, an Uncle (who was oblivious to vacuum cleaners but a know it all in every other area) was using it,but didnt have the hose handle pushed in all the way to make the electric connection to the PN.

He was pushing the PN around with it NOT working! - idiot.

I went over to him and pushed the handle in so it activated the PN, and handed it back to him. He was amazed. lol

Always funny when people who THINK they know everything and go on and on about it, find out they really DONT know everything!

Fine restoration work -- Congratulations!

The Golden Jubilee (aka Golden J)/Model 1205 is a lovely and classy machine which purrs like a kitten but is ferocious with contaminants! The color was first mixed for the Golden G salesmen's award model in the '60s (a 'royal' version of the aqua and tan Model Gs) and of course also used on the golden Model L, the golden Super J/Model 1401, the golden Model CB commercial canister, and the golden Model B-8 triple-brush Beautifier. Even the last PN-4s that originally accompanied the 1401s were painted in the golden hue but are scarcer than hen's teeth as Vacuumlanders sometimes say. I would also agree that the accompanying PN-2s of the golden 1205--first manufactured for the teal 1205s and used last with the early 1401s--were well-built for cleaning efficiency.

Indeed, it is one of the top vintage Electrolux Corporation models of all time--made in its heyday.

I would have to say the Filter Queen has a significant more amount of suction.

The Jubilee has decent suction and really good air flow.
Best if all, is how whisper quiet , along with that gentle hummmmmmm of the Lux motor is.

Here are the Westinghouse and Sunbeam. The Westinghouse was altered by Dad...hose, cord..tools are worn, crevass has a split, lots of bags. The Sunbeam, new hose, original upholstery attachment, lots of bags and a adapter (I made) to allow you to use Elextrolux bags.

I have actually heard that Filter Queens®--overall--had more powerful suction than Electroluxes. It may even be true when comparing their contemporaries with Aerus LLC machines. While I'm familiar with DQ® I am not familiar with FQ®. haha

(DQ® stands for Dairy Queen®, an international "grill and chill" fast-food and restaurant and soft-serve drive- or walk-up chain begun in 1940--for those outside its sales territory).

Filter Queen & Aerus suction power....

Fred, take my word on it....the Filter Queen DOES NOT have more power than an Aerus-Electrolux canister, whether new or old. I have 2 brown Canadian Filter Queen Model 700 canisters, & a Filter Queen Limited Edition canister from the late 1990's, the last model to use the Ametek double-stage motor & old-style powerhead. Any of my Electrolux canisters, my 86, 89, AP280, 2100 & Grand Marquise, will easily pull 80" waterlift, same as the Filter Queen's. Plus, one HUGE flaw of the Filter Queen is it's filter cone....it clogs with fine dust way too easily & robs the vacuum of it's airflow quickly with hardly any dirt in the container. The fine dust gets attracted to the cone like a magnet! If you use an Electrolux canister with the HEPA cloth bags, it will clean much better than a Filter Queen & it's power will last much longer too.

Perhaps you have an idea, then, for beerad as to why his FQ® outperforms his Electrolux® Golden J in suction power.
