VacuumLand – Vintage & Modern Vacuum Enthusiasts

Apologies to all but I wasn't thinking about recreational vacuuming. Between dogs, a newborn and a student fiancee/mother of our newborn, vacuuming is a job that needs to be done as quickly and completely as possible at a time when I won't wake the baby up. No time for nostalgia about times past when there is work to be done. Floor coverings here are either utilitarian or what just happened to come with the hose. Different perspective I guess, more in line with the average vacuum user. You buy what gets the job done at a price you can afford. Once in a while I have time to drag out an old vacuum and use it to clean house. Normally I don't have the time for that.

Kirby519, go look at the attachments in a modern Panasonic full sized canister like an MC-CG902 or MC-CG937. They are the same full sized attachments Sears sold thirty years ago on identical 1 1/4 inch wands. They might be the last old school vacuum on the market and God bless them for it. They make Sears crazy new wands and attachments but use the traditional old style pieces on their house brand vacuums. To me their full sized bagged canisters are if not the best canisters on the market certainly the best value on the market today. Under $400 but you get good old fashioned attachments, the industry standard powered floor brush and they wear like iron. The motors might say Made in China on them, but they are a proven old Matsushita design passed along to a Chinese manufacturer. They last as well as anything on the market. The hoses and handles have been in production for decades for Sears and Panasonic vacuums. Proven durable stuff. You aren't getting double the vacuum paying double the price or more for a Miele, Sebo or Tacony product. Don't let the name put you off. Take a look.

Straight suction carpet tool-Yes,good for delicate rugs and carpets.Really good for vacuuming areas where long haired pets sleep and long hair people brush and comb their hair.Go over the area first with the striaght suction tool.Gets up the peices of hair that would otherwise tangle the powered tools. brushroll.Commercially straight tools are often used near and and desks in offices where there are LOTS of phone and computer cables.A powered brushroll tool could be very bad in this case! And most commercial carpet is very low pile-and and glued to the subfloor-the whole surface.Otherwords their carpet isn't "floating" as home carpets are-fastened on the edges.
