The bearing noise was probably from not being used mine did the same when I first got it.The power of these motors in this mixer are Amazingly Strong they do not flinch even under a heavy load of a Triple batch of cookie dough powers right through it! I made 4 different kinds of cookies so far & a large cheese ball I should of taken pics sorry about that I just have still too much to do before the big day! Andy your pound cake looks Great,I bet it tasted so Good & was eaten real quick! Hey if you do come across the Sears version of the recipe book could you please let me know? I would really love to see it! I have the Sunbeam version if you need a scanned copy let me know ok! Will be back later with a link to share if I can get it to work here,Dave

The only problem with gluing that stand where it's broken is spring tension from the latch button. It may make it pop back apart.

JB Weld for example, is layman's epoxy. There are commercial epoxies that rival the strength of steel. They aren't cheap, but the unused portion will keep for yrs.

I did JB Weld the broken base...it did not work how I hoped. The release button was a little off, so it won't open enough to put the mixer on. Time to get a replacement base...
