I acquired a vacuum lot at an estate sale that included two teal hoses with genuine Electrolux handle ends. The one with the white ribbon pattern through the blue was familiar to me. I was surprised by the other one with a pattern very similar to the Olympia, Silverado, and Diamond Jubilee hoses. Is this a genuine Electrolux hose as well or a repair job using a genuine handle end? Just curious as both hoses are not really usable.

One of my 1205s came with a leaky, non-electric hose like that. Running it with a good quality, electrified vinyl hose and a power nozzle unlocked the machine's true potential. I've still got that old hose buried in my barn somewhere and it hasn't seen the light of day in several years, nor has it been particularly missed.

If the hoses leak

I would be interested in both the handle and machine ends should the hoses be leaky. I have fitting and vinyl hose I use with them to refresh them or should you wish to do so yourself I can give you pointers on how and where to buy the supplies to do so.

I think maybe that was a replacement. I have seen that pattern though on some older machines. The 1957-1969 Model S came with a hose with that pattern but the handle end was metal. I think perhaps Electrolux may have been buying the hose material pre manufactured by another manufacturer or if they made their own they had two different types of weaving machines for that outer layer and they would use one primarily. This is all guesses of mine. Someone who worked in the factory would know for certain. One thing is for sure the one with the white double stripe was definitely the dominant one made at the time and the other was more rare.

Funny thing is I’ve seen the 1205 electric hoses with the swivel all metal handles with the plug at the hose collar in the standard teal blue with white racing stripes and also in the jubilee, super J, Olympia and Silverado colors! They are more rare in all but the teal blue but they are out there and we’re being made even while the Jubilee and on newer plastic direct connect handles were the standard and even worked with the teal power nozzle wand sheaths that had the pigtail cord. Why they continued making the old style handle while the new one would work as well was beyond me but perhaps those were meant to be the replacement hoses for the 1205s.
