Sturtevant!

This is EARLY.Perhaps 1912-1915.It was seen here as a Western Electric.I have only seen ads and heard of one that was found in US.
Was it built for SA?Or found elsewhere?Any hose/attachments?Running?More pictures?
Great find!

Here's what I have in my archives.

I took this picture of the first of the Sturtevant vacuum cleaners in August of 1980 when I was at the Hoover Historical Center. I believe the year was 1912. Pictured in back is the Hatch and Goeser of 1910.

The motor is running perfectly...

The motor is running perfectly, its got a massive fan and a heavy and sturdy motor. Unfortunately i have no attachments for it and its got no bag in it. on the sturtevant website it read that it had a filter screen. im not sure if they mean bag. the suction power is excellent, it must be with such a big suction fan. i will load a close up picture of the motor details now. It needs restoration, not sure if im the man for that, but i will try. i dont think it was made for south africa, maybe imported for a big building in the mother city of Cape Town. It takes a while for the motor to get to full speed and quite a while for it to stop. maybe one of you guys recognise the distribution company.. will send a pic of that plate also. Interesting they gave the motor revs as only 5000.

Distribution company still exist...

Ive just googled the Distribution company and it still exist in South Africa. I will contact them, maybe they still have a record to whom they sold it? I will take photos of the motor and the rating plates now, my phone is flat and i cant use the flashlight when the battery is below a certain point.

It looks awesome bud,Great find I think you need to come visit in Dec and you and I can restore it together. I am sure we can make a bag for it and find some tools for it too
