I found this vac on garbage day a few weeks ago. Maybe its because I saved it or maybe it's because it was free but I feel a strange connection with this one. I haven't been able to find out much about it, age or anything. But I just like it (and I'm basically a kirby guy). I cleaned it and replaced the cord cuz the one that was on it was only about 3 feet long.

Do any of you have a vacuum like this? One that for one reason or another you like more than seems logical?

Do share stories and Pix! :)

Yup, I do

I've got a Convertible U4387, it's a later plastic Convertible, but man, does it clean! The only issue I've ever had with it was a broken fan, but that was my fault, and it was the easiest repair I've ever done on any machine.

Looks like yours also uses Hoover Type A top-fill bags. They're still available, as well as HEPA A bags, but I use HEPA Type Y bags in mine, as they're easier to find than the A bags. Haha. They're made of a cloth-like material (much like Kirby Allergen bags) and they give these machines ridiculous airflow.

Ah, yes, that poor little Convertible RS that went down in history as the last of the domestic convertibles! Never forget!
