I bought this Kirby Tradition about two years ago and I'm just now getting around to restore it. I noticed several aspects that are normal to a stock Tradition that I have seen in pictures.

1. The fan cover doesn't have a serial number embossed.
2. The power nozzle doesn't have a adjustment plate.

I was wondering if this is a Tradition that was built from different parts from the factory or did someone (before I bought it) put on a fan cover from a previous Kirby model and a different power nozzle from a different Kirby model, as well? If anyone has any comments I would appreciate it, thanks.

I have some pictures to show what I'm talking about.

He means lack of a suction relief vent. The very first Traditions did have this feature, along with the 10-blade metal fan (from July to December 1979).

And that fan case is a replacement, which because of the lack of a plaque where the serial number would be engraved, was actually supposed to be used for a Kirby Classic or Classic Omega. A replacement fan case for the Classic III and Tradition will have the serial number plaque on front.
