First off, apologies for not being as active on this site as of recently. I haven't been quite as into vacuums as I once was (don't worry, I've got no plans of dropping my love for them anytime soon), and I'm still reeling from the devastation that is this site's remodel. However, today I've got something to share that you guys might be interested in...

So I was walking home today when I saw this lady who lives on my street throwing out a vacuum. At first, I wasn't too interested in it, as from where I was standing, it looked like a ProLux or Koblenz machine, but when I got a closer look, it turned out to be this Panasonic upright with a cord reel. Now, I'm not the type to regularly trash-pick vacuums, especially if they're ones that I have not much interest/personal connection to, however... I kinda couldn't help myself...

I haven't done much of an inspection of the machine, aside from eyeing it down and opening up the bag chamber. I'm not entirely sure what I'll do with it if it works/if I can clean it up. I'm not really a Panasonic guy. I mean, I don't hate them, I just don't have much experience or familiarity with them. The only other one in my possession is my Jet-Flo MC658U, which I do like that one, but it's kind of worse for ware. Also, it's extremely ironic that I find this machine now of all times, because I literally just bought myself a machine off of Ebay yesterday (that's another story that I'll post about when the time comes). Anyways, I was told that the only thing wrong with it is... well, the broken handle. However, it wouldn't surprise me if there were motor/cord reel problems too, but again, I wasn't that thorough in my inspection.

Regardless, before I do anything, I gotta get it to my dad's house before the weather takes a turn, but I also need to do so without my mom seeing, as she does not approve of me trash-picking vacuums (to that I say her objections are kind of ridiculous, as I don't bring these machines into the house, and never will).

So, does anybody have any info on this Panasonic? Is it rare? What's its serial date? it a decent machine? Can I get HEPA bags and filters for it?

They are good machines. Panasonic always made a good quality upright but this one looks like the handle is broken off. Is that the case?

There are a pair of handles on eBay right now, one for an MC-V7370 and the other for an MC-V7395 that would fit. They are black instead of the copper color yours should have but appear to be the right handle for your machine in terms of form, fit and function.

Wow thats a unique model! Panasonic vacuums are not that common. Handle is an easy fix, you can likely find parts from one of the Tacony made uprights that used this mold like the Carpet Pro or some Riccar rebadged Panasonics.

A plastic welder/stapler will also work if theres a solid seam to get it reattached and no parts are missing.

I hope you enjoy it.
Thanks, but Idk if I'm going to keep it. I might, but I've also thought about maybe giving it to the model railroad club (all they have for vacuums is some shop vacs and a bissell stick vacuum), or someone else who needs a vacuum. That's also under the assumption that it works and I can get it cleaned up. Maybe I'll sell it too, idk.

I wouldn't say that Panasonic vacuums in general are particularly rare. There's a good handful of them on Ebay right now, and I'm sure if you looked on your local marketplace sites you could find a good amount of them. This one, though, seems to be pretty uncommon. The only video I was able to find of it on YouTube was PanasonicVac's, and there don't seem to be too many photos available of it. If that is the case, then cool! Again, hopefully it works and I can find a way to reattach the handle. I'm thinking super glue or epoxy will work, but if not, I'll look for a replacement handle. Also hopefully the rain and snow don't get to it before I do...

Nope. It is an A shaped handle. There are two on ebay in black. OP says he has the original handle so there is hope for a clean repair.

I have a blue version with the height adjuster. I'll do a video of it sometime once I get a new filter for it. Good machines overall.
Cool! So far I'd consider mine to be the best bagless vacuums I've ever used, as it has excellent filtration and airflow. Oh, and I know they have a bad rap when it comes to belt-life, but I've had the same belt that inside it that I put in to replace the broken one it came with, and I haven't had as much as it slip on me!

Update:

Partially took apart the Panasonic today. As I expected, there was a good amount of dust on the inside. However, among this dust was what looked to be plaster/ drywall dust on the bag cover (at first I thought it was mold). I hope they weren't using this as a Shop Vac. Also, on the inside of the motor housing were large, thin pieces of lint. Idk how those could've gotten in there unless this was used without a bag or pre-motor filter. Hopefully this doesn't mean that the motor is toast (once again, she said that it works, and that she only threw it out because the handle was busted).

Also, the date codes on some of the parts suggests that this machine was at the earliest made in 1998 (the numbers ranged from 95-98). I'm sure PanasonicVac would know more on these, and how to serial date them.

Also, I took a look at the cord a few weeks ago. It was taped up a bit and had some tears in it. I don't remember seeing any exposed copper, though.

Finally, where can I find attachments for this? Looking at the manuals online, it seems like it came with some extension wands, an upholstery tool, a crevice tool, and a turbo brush. Are there other machines that use the same attachments as this?

Ebay is your friend. Panasonic upright vacuum cords are almost always available. Ditto their attachments. Some Kenmore attachments are also the same as those used on Panasonic branded uprights so give that a browse too.

Also a lot of Tacony made products that use Panasonic molds can be identical to Panasonic OEM if the parts are that hard to find. Carpet Pro, Riccar, The Bank, Clean Max, Powr-Flite.... There's probably a bunch more I can't remember.

But I had a The Bank upright that I could not ever find a door for, but I found a Carpet Pro door, and it is a perfect match! Color of course does not match, but the part works for now to complete the job.

Boy I have never had that kind of luck with any of my Panasonic uprights : /

The Bank was a Tacony product if my last brain cell is not failing me so not surprised a part from another Tacony product, Carpet Pro, fits.
