A few months ago I mentioned that I had managed to obtain a South Africian Hoover 4006 - this is a variant of the Hoover 4002 - the first Ranger model we had

As seems to always be the case with these particular models the lens has yellowed considerably, this does not seem to have been a problem with the later 4014 (ssshhhhh) Ranger model, I wonder if some of the yellow pigment leeches into the lens plastic. It also has the conventional round Hoover handgrip rather than the more angular version (hand grip only, the handle its self was still round but painted yellow) of our 4002. In reality the cleaner is not quite such a dark yellow that it appears here

It has a shake out bag
In our previous discussion about it Gareth was surprised it has a shake out bag - I thought perhaps this was typical of SA at the time but Gareth said not and if anyone should know he would
Still there aint nothing like a shake out bag for good inflation. I did not have time to check it, but I wonder if this would have enhhanced suction due to higher air flow.
Please excuse the state of the carpet which needs a shampoo - that area is right under the loft hatch where I keep my cleaners and there is no point doimng it till I finish my sorting out

A final difference
Is the large clip to hold the bag up - this is much bigger than the UK version, but maybe that is for the shake out bag. Oh and the cable clips are metal not plastic as ours were by that time.
After seeing Gareth's postings I am going to have to get a 15amp plug to make it look more authentic. Gareth what colours are your cable cores? these are Brown/Blue (the standard colour scheme for Europe) but maybe the cable has been changed.

Hey a home town machine , That bag is not origionalaly from that unit though, They all had a green bag on them. Hoovers in SA used to be manufactured in a province called eastlondon here in SA.
Zegal doesn't exist any more , the suburb oof rondabosh is about 15 min from were I stay, odd phone number though never seen one like it

Even this earlier, yellow model? Of course if you had the later model with the green hood (equivalent to our 4014) then it would of course have a green bag but they yellow here is a pretty good match for this cleaner. We did have another version of the 4002 (grey hood, no headlamp) with a shake out bag which also used the older style round handle and (grey) hand grip which I always presumed to be a commercial varaint - its seems a bit of a long shot that I should have got another version of teh same thing

Vacbear, the U4002 in grey was a commercial option although I always though the Senior was of commercial quality anyway and certainly have seen a good deal of domestic models purchased for commercial use. I am fairly sure it was originally available before the standard Ranger took over sales from the 652. The consumer had the choice of buying a grey model with shake out bag or standard paper bag, which made it identical to the domestic U4002 except for headlamp, although the original mains lead on the commercial model was a good deal longer. Like yours in the picture here, it uses the standard curved Hoover handle, although I am intrigued by yours as it has the metal flex hooks still. It must have been one of the very first.

Vacbear58 sorry sort of a green bag but always with a paper bag, even the last models of the 652 here had a paper bag
