Hello all!

I am new to the vintage vacuum cleaner scene. I recently purchased my Hoover Senior (U4016) and I need to disassemble it to change the light bulb. If anyone may offer some assistance on how to do this. It would be much appreciated!!

Kindest Regards
Nicolas

Welcome Nicolas

There isn't much in the past posts to help you.
But a countryman (User Name gsheen) seems very
knowledgeable regarding SA Hoovers of that era.

Check old post #25068. Then click on "gsheen"
from the thread to access his file. That
might include an email address.
Or, give a shout out on the Vintage Board.

Hello Nicolas,
I think the Hoover Senior is the same as our Convertibles so I attached a picture of the bottom of an old Convertible and those 2 screws will release the hood and you will have access to the bulb. I hope this will help you and that is a similar model to your.
Good Luck,
Pete

Thanks everyone for replying so briskly. Funnily enough the underside of my machine looks totally different. I’m very pleased with it so far. I am looking forward to respraying the handle and fork.

I have replaced the light bulb after finally finding a replacement.

Here is a photo of the machine.

Well hello!

The much fabled Gsheen of South African Hoover fame! I am absolutely chuffed that you have replied. I live in Wynberg in the southern suburbs.
I shall have to find time to pop round!

Send me a whatsapp if you need help bud I may even have some spare paint to match the handle and fork

Thank you ever so much! I’ve managed to match the shade with some White Gloss. I found it in a charity shop on the Wynberg main road.

In fact I have just finished priming the handles.
