Well the DC03 is waiting glue, Turbopower Plus is awaiting me to do something with the coil and the I couldnt be bothered to do anything with the DC24

So I grabbed the 262, whose motor slows in use

The wires were very brittle, and cracked when I bent them so sorted that out whilst it was easy to get to

Looking at the coil, the 2 plates were covered deeply with rubbish! Took ages to scrape it all off, and polish up the contact faces!

Span like a dream when back together, and a healthy amount of oil in the bearings.

Runs like new now, thunders across the carpet. All I need now are 2 new carbon brushes and a lightbulb! Possibly new brush strips too as they are a bit soft, but not critical

Hoover Cleaner

Amazing what a clean up can do! I really enjoyed seeing the disassembly of this old motor. I've got to get me an old Hoover. Any chance of a video to see the finished product?

So jealous

What an amazing machine these are. I remember being around 2 and we had one of these. It used to be nans and gave it to my mum when she bought her junior 1012 in 76 ( the year I was born) It was always kept at the bottom of our stairs. It was used every day sometimes 3 times a day ( mums allergic to dog but has always had a German Shepard ).
I loved this vacuum I helped mum use it when she had tennis elbow once. She pushed the top and helped by pushing from the lower part of the handle. Be I think I was more of a hindrance lol. When I was 5 the old girl finally gave up the ghost and just stopped working half way through the lounge carpet.
I have been after one ever since and would gladly give my right arm and possibly leg to find one in half decent condition.
Bloom after her well

Thanks for this...

So satisfying to get an old vac clean and back to working order or a new vac out of the box & set up. Relaxes me just to see the process in these threads.
The photo i include is what i took out of a Silver King vacuum. These contents were wet as the vacuum was kept on a boat. I did a very basic cleaning just so i could store the vac for future work without smell or further rust damage.
I actually paid someone to haul this nasty vac away...but i will find satisfaction down the road when i use it successfully after a tear down like you just performed.

Jeez that's some gunk!

Have a video on the way soon, but it wont be of the same quality as I've sent my phone off for repair, and am using a horrid old sony android phone!

Still, I'll get one done!
