Recently, a Hoover model 700 came into my possession. In addition to the usual restoration procedures (grease, new cord, cleaning (haven't really polished it much yet)), I modeled and 3D printed a few upgrades to help break it into the 21st century.
Firstly, the handle was loose and I wasn't sure if a spacer was missing or what. The previous owner had just used a ton of electrical tape, which wasn't satisfactory for me, so I made a little thing to fit around it nice and snugly.
Secondly, I wanted to use an inner bag, but also keep the original bag on there. Thankfully, the hole was large enough that I could design something to fit between the two metal plates and extend into the shake-out bag. I used a Eureka F&G inner bag for this, but a Hoover type C could work just fine, I'm sure.
Lastly, I wanted to use modern attachments with it. The original hose/attachments are cool, but are too long (for me) and not very flexible anymore, and I wanted to use modern attachments so I wouldn't scratch my parents' furniture with the metal tools. I made the adapter with the intention to use with an old Hoover Encore Supreme hose, but realistically, any kind of hose should be able to fit on there.
These are only prototype designs I'm still working on improving, but this is basically what we got so far. The original looks of the machine are still preserved, and no parts were modified (just added)!
Only thing it needs are new brush roll brushes, and I can't exactly print those. Does anybody know a part number, or other machines that use those same brushes that I could look for?
P.S: Excuse my college dorm in the pictures, I didn't have many options for a good location.
