Soft gray Kirby belts

Does anyone know where to get those soft gray crepe-rubber Kirby belts? The local vac shop said that Kirby doesn't make them anymore, but they do make the exact same belt for the Royal Company for use on their upright machines. I bought a couple and will try them out, but they don't feel as flexible as the original Kirby belts. They also seem to be a tiny bit smaller in diameter.

Never mind. I found some on eBay. I am wondering, however, if Kirby really has stopped making them, and, if so, why they're making the same belts for Royal. The newer Kirby belts are more rigid and less flexible, not so good for the motor bearings of older models.

Just call Kirby at 1-800-437-7170 and ask them if they still have part no. 159056. They did stop making the very old-style belt no. 1590 about a decade ago.
