I picked this up at the estate sales today for $1 and have absolutely no knowledge of these Rexair vacuums. It will be fun to try it out with water...

You know Robert, if it wasn't so blasted cold in MPLS in the winter, I'd consider moving there... you always find the coolest stuff!
That looks like Rexair model B, circa 1936 or so...There are not many of those around, and to find it with the box and such is a score!

Having only ever seen these cleaners in photos, I'd always assumed they were quite large machines. Unless Robert is a giant, it must be tiny! How cute! Looks to be in lovely condition, too. What a great find!

Yes, that is quite lovely Robert! I used to have one in equally nice condition -- it's another of the machines that disappeared in the Great Vacuum Cleaner Swindle. *sigh*

Robert, I have the same machine in my collection of Rexairs. Jeff was close, 1937 was the year of the Model B. One thing, in your picture, the curved end attaches to the hose and the straight end goes into the rug tool. Wasn't sure if you knew. See you in Ohio!

Your find caused me to reflect on the great fun we had estate saling over pride weekend!
Not sure it would be a daily driver but definitely fun to play with.
Also, it appears to be in great shape.
Have you done the hose quality test??

Thanks Everyone for the great info. Logan Don took that picture of me and the vacuum with my old 2000 camera, Stephen was right next to us. Don brought home a turquoise Airway and a Maytag Wringer Washer and a few other trinkets.
Robb I didn't realize I had the tool/wands backwards, it did seem a bit odd that way, I'll for sure have to switch them around.

I have three of these however they are not as complete as this. I found them in the attic of an old closed down store that had been closed for decades. Someone bought the three story store and moved into it and had a HUGE sale to sell everything. I bought MANY vacuums from this store including the Rexairs. All the rest were from the 70's. It had been opened for a short time on the first floor only. The attic or third floor had been closed since the 40's. we found the store business ledger books up there.
Anyhow one of the Rexair B machines has the bigger water pan and the wheel dolly. The water pan and wheels are very rare! I might have the original hose but not sure. Sadly no tools

My last post didn't make since. I meant that the store had been reopened for a short time in a few years ago and that is were the rest of the vacuums came from. One was the beautiful yellow Eureka canned ham (empress) with matching powerhead and another was a Kirby Tradition. I can't remember all the others. Nothing to exciting
