I got a used Dyson 07 and find it does not glide over carpet like I've seen in videos. I'm missing one of the small rollers on the bottom of the base plate and at least two others do not roll freely at all.

Could this be the reason it is so hard to push? are the five little rollers on bottom of base plate really that important?

Thank's for any input re this.

Hi Jan,

I would say from personal experience yes, the wheels are important. It also depends on the carpet type and thickness of the nap.. which can also make it harder to push a vacuum. But I’ve found the wheels are very helpful, not just on bare floors, but they do help on most carpeting too.

I attached a link to Ebay for a “buy it now” of a brand new brushroll bottom plate for a Dyson DC07. And if you have $20 bucks to spare, I would buy it and swap yours with missing wheels out.

Worse case, you’ve made your great find of a DC07 even better and it will perform better all together.

Good luck and I hope this helps.

That could very well be the issue. You can buy wheel kits for the base plate. I believe the wheel kit for the DC33 will work for your model.

Good luck!

Particles of grit tend to jam those silly wee wheels. They're more trouble than they're worth.

A slightly larger wheel design would have been a better bet.
