A few weeks ago, my friends aunt got a vacuum for me because she thought it was a rare one that I may not already have. I didn't ask her to, she just did it. It's a Singer twin fan upright from the 80s... the kind that turns on when you recline the handle... single speed motor. I grew up with these, and I wanted one like the one I grew up with. A very nice guy was culling out his collection several months ago and sent me his just for the cost of shipping... it's identical to the one I grew up with, so I'm keeping that one. The one the aunt got me is similar enough to be considered a duplicate (from what I can tell the only difference are cosmetic)... and I don't have room in my small apartment for duplicates. I barely have room for the machines I already have, so something will have to be pretty special for me to get/keep it now. I need to get rid of this thing and give the aunt back what she paid for it.
Here are pics of both of them. The one I'm keeping is the one on the right... the one that is grey with the blue and red bag. The one I need to get rid of is the one with green accents (handle grip, bumper, and lettering). The only real difference that I can tell besides color is that the bag on the green one is actually CLOTH instead of vinyl! I've never EVER seen this machine before in my life... I think it looks a little more like the Kenmores than the other one.
It seems to work fine... I vacuumed with it for about a minute (didn't want to wake the neighbors up, this thing is loud and it's late... I usually use my Miele or Vorwerk or Eureka 1934A for late night vacuuming since they are so quiet... I tend to stay away from Singer, Hoovers, Oreck, Dirt Devil, and Royal late at night since they are insanely loud. The light even works! The brushroll spins, the bag inflates. The height adjustment works. The only "problems" are that there are a few scratches on the base from normal use and on the handle... and a gouge in the cord, but it doesn't go all the way through to the wires. The belt will need to be replaced as the brushroll bogs down a little on the back stroke... I've heard that the belts are discontinued, but that a Hoover Elite belt will work with these. They can take F and G bags which I'm sure every collector has. The best part is that there were no obnoxious pet or smoke smells coming from the machine as there sometimes is with used vacuums.
Kenny, I know you said you may be interested, so please let me know if after seeing the pics and description you still are. I would just want to be reimbursed for what the aunt paid (20 dollars) so I can pay her back and for shipping. I don't want to make a profit... I don't believe in profiting from other collectors... we're a unique family and should help each other out whenever possible. I don't know what shipping from FL to PA would cost... The vacuum isn't extremely heavy though. Kenny, if you want it, I could send that Quadraflex Power Nozzle that you wanted for parts at the same time.... I still have it. If you don't want it, I understand and I won't be upset, I will just need to know so I can see if anyone else may want it.
Thanks
