I acquired this nice Sliver King from Phillip at the VCCC convention in June. Can these be used to suck up water? Does it require a special kit to do so? Do I remove or leave the filter in place while sucking up water?

I found some videos on YouTube of the Sliver King Blue Max. Suggesting that you can use it to suck up water to clean out the hose. [this post was last edited: 8/9/2017-09:14]

I can't say I know the answers I your questions regarding water pickup, but you might be interested to know about a new company in Denver that is producing High Quality Silver King filters. If you want the name, let me know. I've got it written down somewhere around here...

I wish I knew but I've never used for water and I'm not sure where my manual is for mine. I love using this from time to time. I use Kenmore Hepa 5055 bags in mine so I don't have to deal with cleaning the filters.

That appears to be the age old mystery with these machines. I have an older manual for a model AE and it doesn't mention water pickup. I've never seen any kind of wet pick up attachments for these either, such as a shampoo kit or some kind of ball float. Fairfax vacuums, which are of similar design, do have a wet conversion that consists of a ball float that fits in the tank plus wet pick up attachments.
If nothing else you have a very powerful dry vacuum in a lovely red color! And I do believe there was a thread here earlier about the filter discs, supposedly they are still being manufactured and available on eBay, i don't know if its the same seller or not but it would be worth knowing where to get high quality replacements.

Before they closed down I called and asked them about water pickup, and if there was a ball float type of thing. I was told to just use the polypropylene filters. I wouldn't do that with a flow through model, but i did try it with my Blue max 2000. It worked, but it's certainly not an elegant solution for it.

Don't do it without the ball float and a foam type filter made to catch water and be rung out. Same principle in shop vacs that pick up water. In most shop vacs, a steady diet of water will start to rust things unless the works are stainless.

Mine (same red model) has a set of wet pick up attachments (extraction nozzle and floor squeegee) but nothing else. I sure if it's missing something or not. So it is intended for wet but I'm just not sure how. Tania is our Silver King expert.

Thanks guys it isn't really that big of deal. If I need to wet vac I'll just my shop vac or my rainbow se with limited capacity. I'm just curious to how the wet pickup feature works. Looks like sliver king can be used as an extractor as well.

Kenny you can also use the Fairfax you got from me for water pick up too. If you don't have a float let me know. I'm sure I have one somewhere since I'm a Fairfax nut.

Had a ball float insert. The filter magic special edition i bought came with a watermatic V manual, for some reason, which listed a ball float for water pick up, as well as an extraction kit that hooked to your sink much like the Aquamate I
