What makes a WindTunnel a WindTunnel? As many of you know, I just bought one last Friday, and so far I like it. I also have a NIB Tempo, and was told that was a low end WindTunnel. Is that true? What's the difference between the two? Sorry for the silly questions, but I never was really into Hoover (except for the Convertible we had when I was younger, and the Concept One my friends had), and am just getting my feet wet with this brand.

I'm not absolutely certain but I think the "windtunnel" idea has something to do with the air-path from the brush roll up into the cleaner. If I'm not mistaken, the path is less obstructed, with fewer twists and turns and draws up from the center of the brushroll rather than from one end as in the Dialamatic, Pannasonic etc, making for better airflow. A friend of mine has a bagged version of the Windtunnel he picked up at a garage sale, and that thing is almost too powerful for some of his area rugs!

I think its the path of air around the beater, I know the early ones had front and back pick ups. My new T series is in name only as far as I can tell, no tunnel there.

I'm gonna have to unbox the Temp and check out the nozzle. I almost bought a T Series a few months ago, but I heard form somewhere (I think maybe on this forum) that they weren't true WindTunnels.

It makes a BIG difference..
Windtunnel was designed to stop dirt from being scattered/sprayed back into the carpet as you vacuum. Basically in action the front channel collects any larger debris, the middle chamber collects the bulk and the rear collects whatever is missed as it is hurled back to the floor by the brushroll.
It is true that some of the new windtunnels dont have tri but dual chambers but IMHO the front chamber isnt as important as the rear, as the main selling point of windtunnel is the non-redistribution of dirt back into the carpet.
