Should I do it?

Hello all!


 


I bought my first vintage Electrolux HPR (probably a Super J) a few months ago (See Thread 36690, if interested, it's a good read!) and got the "I need another to represent a different (earlier) era of their design and engineering" notion stuck in my head!


 


Soooo...


 


What do you think?


 


It's going to end up a bidding war and will probably end costing up over $150.00 or even $200.00 including shipping! Worth it?


 


Looks pretty f-ing gorgeous to me from the pics, but is hands-on at an estate sale or other market the only way to go? Probably will need a deep cleaning (which I don't do myself.. not enough know how yet to mess with an antique like this one) and possible parts.


 


Did any/all of the model G Automatics come with a power nozzle? I vaguely remember using one borrowed from a neighbor back in the late 80s that had one, but don't remember exactly. This one has no power nozzle, but is labeled automatic, which must refer to the bag door popping open when suction is reduced per the selection on the regulator.


 


I'm so excited!

Electrolux Model G

Many consider this not only the finest Elux ever but possibly the best vac ever.It was a deluxe model with cordwinder,automatic control,4 ply self sealing bags,power nozzle outlet(PN was optional)and MORE.It would be mid 60s between the early G with PN outlet on door and the last tan color Gs.Also one of the quietest.The above EBay Mo G looks VERY nice and WAY above average.The bag box is from the early 90s and is said to have 9 out of 26 bags remaining that could indicate rare and careful use.It has all the original attachments as well as earlier dusting and rug/floor tool that would likely mean it came from an older long time Elux customer.The white bristle brush is the optional wall brush.Hose and crevice tool are worn as expected but original.
A great vacuum if you agree it ends up at a 'great'price.The winning bidder should make CERTAIN the seller will pack PROPERLY as the wheels can be fragile!

I absolutely love Electroluxes, And as seen here, it started very early in my life... I don't know that I'd ever pay so much for one though, it would have to be a rare model, and in very excellent condition. I see this one does look gorgeous, BUT, I would NEVER pay that much for one! I honestly don't recommend going for this one, because they want too much for it. Look at the attachments, it doesn't even have the correct ones for this model!

I ended up sitting in front of my computer as the eBay clock ticked down to end the bidding time, and as I placed my final bid and hit submit, it refreshed to the eBay sign in screen... and I missed out.

Wasn't meant to be on this one, but man was I pissed at myself!

I guarantee you can find one just as nice, with all the proper tools, for less than this went for! You might have to put some work into it to make it perfect, but that'll just add to your ultimate enjoyment of the machine!

That ad did catch my eye, even though the main body of the G shows more dings and scrapes than the one I lost the bid on, this one comes with all those rare attachments, which I think the metal one is a fogger, maybe, and the glass jar is a sprayer (but for what, surely not paint!)


 


Worth having as collectors items, but do you guys use them ever?  Any user guides still available?


 


Also, random queston, does the floor polisher work from the blower end of the machine?  Seems like a no brainer, as if used on the suction end it could draw liquids or pastes up into the hose, but thought I'd ask anyway.
