Tonight I took a detour home from work to pick up another vacuum cleaner.  The idea with this one is to clean it up and sell on for a profit, but I actually think I may (slightly) like the thing... 


 


It is filthy, but very quiet and the brushroll sticks to the carpet almost as good as an old HOOVER!


 


I took some pictures of it in the condition I bought it in, for £10, and will now clean it up and post some after pictures.  As usual, anything that can go in the dishwasher will, and whatever can't will be thoroughly cleaned by hand.

I wouldn't

put the plastic dust bin in the dishwasher. It might come out cloudy. As for the other parts as well, I don't know how hot of water they can stand.
 
You may have a point there Mike.  The previous bagless bins I have washed in the dishwasher have came out more cloudy than before, so perhaps not a good idea on one that is actually pretty clear to begin with.  Plus it has the two stickers on it which would be damaged, and if I could keep them intact it could help with selling, or to retain its originality should I keep it for my collection.

and stickers can clog the dishwasher filter. Your rocket is nice, and not very dirty. I'd just use some liquid dish detergent (with no bleach) and paper towels.
 
I've washed

my Shark rotator bin by hand. It has a metal type mesh screen (not sure what type of material), but I doubt water would be good for it. I'm guessing this shark has the same thing. I usually vacuum my bagless bin/filters with my Lux bagged vacuum.
 
Well, I decided to do it the "old fashioned way" and just wash everything in the bath tub with some warm soapy water.  It has come out clean so I'll just have to wait for it to dry (the worst bit about cleaning vacuum parts!) and can then polish it up, reassemble and decide whether the Shark will become part of my collection, or earn me a bit of money... 


 


Given that I am possibly adding another Kirby to my collection though, I think I may just sell it...  Keep your eyes peeled in the Vintage forum for details of that.
