Seven years ago.

I'm just about to go to the holding unit to start the evaluation process of my stuff. It's interesting that it's today, because exactly seven years ago tonight, everything went into the unit at Public Storage in Sacramento.  Yes, I will bring my non electric machines home for a through cleaning, but plan to take the long winter months to work on the early electric's like the Air-Ways. Tomorrow, I plan to do a photo shoot of the machines that need heavy restoration, and will be posting questions, and asking advice from the experts on how to locate parts to return these to basic operation.  


 


So as John Lucia said a few weeks ago, "the kids are home!"

Well, I went to the holding unit and have great news to report.


 


Aside from a lot of dust and tarnish, the machines are in very good condition! No, I didn't test the motors as there's no electric power there, but did treat several of them to a little Windex, doing a little test spot, I got each to shine nicely. As for the 1920 Air-Way, the outer bag is better than I thought when I was loading the pod, but the same cannot be said for the Air-Way Chief!


 


As I said, this was not a clean-up session, but a way to evaluate the work ahead, and yes, there is a lot to do. The biggest requirement is to replace the leatherette for the Electrolux model V, and XII, and a number of cords need to be replaced. I have two huge boxes with bags for assorted uprights that still look great. I also have a box with cords, which are mostly Electrolux and Kirby and a few Hoovers. All in all, I'm very optimistic that the collection can be returned to it's former glory.

Hi Alex.

How did the warehouse cleanup go? Did you find any Electrolux LX parts? My son is wondering if you had time to look for that with everything else going on.
