VacuumLand – Vintage & Modern Vacuum Enthusiasts

Help Support VacuumLand:

Thank you Clark :) I've never been, either there or Cairns, the city in Queensland where she was born. I want to go though! Maybe then I can correct myself on geography. She probably told me right and after years of hearing it one way I decided that's how it should be. Australian english doesn't help, either :)

my aunt

She had the DCo2. Never liked it, so she bought the DC17. She loves it. Great cleaner too.

Might be getting a new free rainbow.... so I will hold on dyson canisters for a long time.

Oh...where does your aunt live? I mean which country - I don't want her address, lol. I wasn't aware the DC02 had ever made it to the US??

Very cool Jack... Very cool :)

I just got my DC24 :D... The attatchments fit the DC16 quite nicely lmao...

I have a "bitsa" DC02 Absolute... Would kill for a DC02 Clear :)

Have seen a DC02 De Stijl in Dyson Aust's office... Not as cool as the clear though :)

Yes, very cool indeed. Almost a carbon-copy of the Fantom Lightning (only w/o the power nozzle). Didn't Dyson produce a DeStijl version of the DC02 as well? I have a DC01, but I wish it were a DeStijl.

Shanon - do you like the DC24? I bought one on impulse a couple of weeks after they first came out, I thought it was so cute! I do NOT like the 'tool', though!

Karl - The DC02 came in the following variations:

Standard (grey/yellow)
Absolute (grey/yellow/purple)
Clear (transparent blue/transparent green/yellow)
De Stijl (red/yellow/purple)
Recyclone (green/yellow/grey)
Antarctica Solo (white/light blue)

The DC01 came in:

Standard (grey/yellow)
Absolute (grey/yellow purple)
Antarctica Solo (grey/blue)
Blue (grey/blue)
De Stijl (red/yellow/purple)

They also made the DC04 in the De Stijl colour-scheme, but I'm not sure how many were made. The De Stijl models come up on eBay all the time - I don't actually like the colour scheme, or I would have bought a set already! It's getting harder to find them in nice condition, with all their original, colour-matching parts, so perhaps I should invest in some now!

USA

My aunt lives right here in Nebraska smack dab in the center of the US.

And yes she had a DC02 Clear blue. Just like yours.

No, it's not. The Dyson was available in the U.K. YEARS before they came to the states. Thank you for that complete list of early Dyson styles. What do you think it would cost to ship a DC01 DeStijl from the U.K. here to the states? The DC01 I acquired came to me from a vacuum shop in Florida - a family had just moved there from the U.K., and traded it in when they found out the voltage was different.

Well I guess that is possible. But I doubt a common person would get the voltage converter and mess around with all that for it.

idk

She had one though. Exactly like the one above.

I thought it was cool. But she hated canisters. (she has a very very large room, and just did not like pulling it)

I still may get a voltage converter. I'm sure Tom Gasko has several, to power all his U.K. model Dysons. I figured it would be cool to have a DC01, since it was the first. Anyway, I just found this video on YouTube, of the DeStijl I'd like to have. Though not this one lol....

Jack - These look very nice! They cleaned up nicely. Did you happen to take any before pictures so we can compare? I always love seeing how well things clean up! The upright looks like it would be fun to use, may I have a try?

Wow Jack now you need to get DC04 DC05 limited edition for meningitis research. Have you ever seen the DC07 CLICK. Do you plan on getting them for your collection. Many people in the VCCC have seen Tom Gasko.

Hi Evan - yes, I know the models you're talking about. I would like to get both of those, but I'm holding off until I have a little more space!! There are 2 of the DC04 Ltd Edition, and 2 Clics, on eBay as we speak, so it's not like they're impossible to find. I can afford to wait a little longer ;)

I remember the DC07 "Colour My Dyson" competition... The winner was a kid who had done it pink and purple with the response along the lines of "If Barbie had a vacuum it would be like this"
