After I was made aware in a previous thread that this cleaner sold with no bids, I quickly sent an email to the seller with an offer to buy the machine at the ending price of $25.00. This is the result:

I plan to do a basic restoration on this cleaner very soon (like today) so I'll post the restoration progress pictures and the finished product. I don't think I want to keep this one, so anyone who wants it might have a shot at it in the near future. I bought it for a restoration project and investment rather than a cleaner for my personal collection.

Erick, you lucky & plucky smart feller...

If you bought this as an investment, and considering Charles' prior thread enthusiasm, yer gonna want to hang on to this baby for a few years before selling it off for a few fast bucks.

On the other hand, if you wanna just get rid of it you should gift it away at the Convention un-restored.

Old Davy, who hopes he doesn't have to retire in 10 years on the meager proceeds of vintage vacuum sales. :-)

I have a feeling I won't have to wait a few years. I think I could get a fair amount for it, as long as it is promoted better than it was. Basicly, more than one picture and three lines of description are helpful.

It is also helpful that I have some idea of what it is.

Restoration pics will be posted in a few hours.

me too...

I would LOVE to give it a home next to my other Kirby's.. let me and anyone else who is interested know when and if you plan on selling...

Thr seller is happy he sold it & your happy to get it as an investment.
You might want to keep it
In case we run out of gas & electric
we can't run the machines when it will cost too much
so it could come in handy should you wish to vac in a blackout
or in a farmhouse with no electric
for those in between pick me ups

It's metal like you like

I think by time your done polishing it up
you will love it & not want to part with it...

LOL

I'm dealing with a bad brush I think on a Filter Queen
I see a bad plume on one side that lights up the inside
I shut it down
Doesn't do it on lo
only hi

here we go again
now I got 2 that work on lo & on only on hi

LOL

See your vac doesn't have these problems

LOL

And the nozzle and fan case before I started polishing it, but after the bumper was removed.

And my polishing progress so far. This is a far harder job then a Kirby because the fan case and nozzle are part of the same casting and you can't get to the lower part of the fan case and the back of the nozzle.

Wow

Pretty lil beast it turned out to be

LOL

looks to be in very good shape
handle looked good.

I'm the same way
get a vac
& have to clean it
Can't stand someone else's dirty vac

Looking good!

Todays Update:

I have been working on the backside of this cleaner today. Here is how it went.

Back of cleaner, wheels and handle removed, after some polishing:

My agenda for Sunday is to vacuum the bag, clean some more, and put the bumper back on. The metal below the handle grip also needs additional polishing.

I have not changed my mind about selling it, even though it is very nice looking and a very interesting model. This is one cleaner I think would be interesting even to non-collectors. A great conversation piece to show your friends that could care less about collecting as a whole, but still, I plan to sell it.

The performance is also different than anything else I have ever used, and it is interesting to observe. For example, when you stop using it, it takes the fan over a minute to completely slow down. When you really think about it, thats a really long time. The heavy metal fan has a lot of momentum and the gearing system seems to have very little drag compared to electric units. The lack of motor brushes probably accounts for this.
