saved a HOOVER Decade 80

I was coming home from work Tues pm, and was driving through a "Ritzy" section, called the Hollywood section of Scranton. I spied a "handle" would know it anyywhere. It was the green Decade 80, has a hole in the back of the bag, AND, the cord was cut off. WHY do they do that?
Aside from that, it's in great shape. Now, I have 2 greens, 2 dark gray Decade 800(s).

I have encountered that on many occasions (cut cords). Evidently persons cut the cords to obtain the copper wire for scrap purposes. Sadly, many a time I have seen good vacuums and the like victims of this.

Decade 80 is my second favorite Hoover. First is the Concept One. Hope all is good with you John.

I have actually seen KIRBY vacuums with cords cut off. CUT off. Not completely missing.

Ugh some people.

Sometimes it's not the people

who throw out the vacuum that cut off the cord, but recyclers that do it for the copper when the machine is on the curb.

How much scrap copper are you going to get from a cord-almost not worth it.

Not a single cord

but if you collect them over a period of time, and not just from vacuums, and then burn the insulation off, it adds up.
