I have that Vacuum!

I was doing some research of my own to find out how old the vacuum we own is, and that is how I came across this site and thread. I have the brown one that was originally inquired about. It was passed from my husband's grandmother to his mom (DIL) to my husband, and we have been using it for 25 years ourselves. The picture shows some additional cords etc from where it has been modified over the years to incorporate a newer power-head, but my MIL still has the original one. I still would be interested to know when it was actually manufactured if anyone knows.

Hi Laura:

Given the colour and name of the machine I can tell you this much.

Coronado was the house brand of the MacLeods stores. The tan colour scheme would put your machine out at the same time as the machine I pictured in reply #6. That machine is a model D150 and was made from 1964 to 1966 (approximately). I would assume that the model number of your machine should be around D151 (or D149) as the blue ones that replaced them in 1967 were consecutively numbered as models D221 and D222

While they had a cloth bag in them as a secondary filter they were made to use paper bags (Now hard to find)

If you ever decide to get rid of it I'm not far away (Moose Jaw)

Hi,

It still has the cloth bag, and we find that K size bags for Hoover or Kenmore usually fit, although a little long, the hole is at least in the right spot. It has been our only/main machine for all these years.

Thanks for the info about the year. Let me know if you'd be willing to contribute to my Dyson fund and I'll see if I can work on my husband's attachment to his baba's cleaning heritage. :o)
